But if you need new music recommendations to add to your study playlist, we've got homegrown musicians outside the metro that are worth a listen. Below, we list down six Cebu-based artists worth checking out:
Raphiel Shannon covers various pop songs on her YouTube channel. Her cover of "Modern Loneliness" by Lauv even got noticed by the OG artist. Aside from covers, she's also come out with her own singles like "Sa'yo" and "Mundo," the latter of which was an original soundtrack for the film On Vodka, Beers and Regrets.
Repping the Cebuano music scene, Mandaue Nights is a duo composed of musicians Karl Lucente and Gino Rosales. The music they produce together is a mix of synth pop and alt-rock.
At the fresh age of 17, Jolianne has found her own sound. The rising R&B artist from Cebu first entered the limelight when she joined The Voice Kids in 2015. Now she's gradually building her discography with singles and EPs, including her latest drop, "Halfway There."
Electronic pop duo Route 83 is composed of Carlisle Tabanera and Relden Campanilla. The duo came from totally different backgrounds, but came together to pursue their shared passion for music. As a duo, they've released songs with a mix of their native Cebuano as well as English.
Alt-pop duo Sepia Times is a force in the local music scene. Signed under Sony Philippines, the duo got to compete in the Cebu leg of Wanderland's Wanderband 2019.
Honeydrop is an indie rock band composed of five members--Debb, Karl, Tram, Jud, and Jeriel. They dropped their latest single "Luna" in 2019, but they've been making their own music for a long time already. They dropped their first EP called Prelude in 2014.
