Upon its release, The Queen's Gambit caught everyone's attention for its story, its costumes, and the impressive performance of its cast. If you feel like the cast members look quite familiar to you while you were binge-watching the series, then it's probably because you've seen them somewhere else in the past.

Anya Taylor-Joy as Beth Harmon

Anya plays the protagonist chess prodigy on the show. Before The Queen's Gambit, Anya has been impressing fans with her acting prowess. She played the titular character in the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma and starred in the psychological thriller Split as Casey, the girl kidnapped by one of James McAvoy's characters. She's also set to star in Marvel's The New Mutants

Harry plays another chess player that later on becomes friends with Beth. You may not have noticed it, but Harry was in a well-known film. He played Dudley Dursley, Harry's cousin, in the Harry Potter movies. Coincidentally, Anya is a huge Potterhead and learned English by reading the books as a child.

Jacob Fortune Lloyd as D.L. Townes

Although he only appeared in a few episodes, Jacob played Townes, a chess player who caught the interest of Beth. Jacob played Francesco Salviati in Season 2 of the historical series Medici.

Bill Camp as Mr. Shaibel

Bill plays Mr. Shaibel from Beth's orphanage. He was the one who taught Beth how to play chess. He starred as Dennis Box in the HBO series The Night Of, which got him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
