On July 14, Ventura County police in California confirmed that Glee star Naya Rivera's body has been found after she went missing five days prior. In a press conference, police stated that there was no indication of suicide or foul play.
On July 9, a search and rescue operation at Lake Piru, Southern California was launched after where officials found Rivera's 4-year-old son sleeping on a boat with a life jacket on. Police also noted that her son mentioned seeing Rivera "disappear beneath the water."
On Glee, Rivera played the role of Santana Lopez, the resident fierce cheerleader and co-captain of the Cheerios who identifies as lesbian. Aside from Glee, Rivera also appeared on Step Up: High Water, Devious Maids, and Mad Families.
After hearing the news, celebrities took to social media to express heartfelt tributes to the 33-year-old actress. Glee co-stars Harry Shum, Jr., Kevin McHale, and even Demi Lovato who guest-starred as Naya's onscreen girlfriend, shared touching messages about the star's passing.
