One of the Gen Z stars to watch for in the showbiz scene is 20-year-old Cassy Legaspi. She may have already been under the spotlight ever since she was young, but Cassy still has more to offer as an actress and artist. Here are a few things you might not know about Cassy:
Cassy comes from a showbiz family.
ICYDK, Cassy's parents are seasoned actors Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel. Dani Barretto, whose father is Zoren's brother Kier Legaspi, is her cousin. Having been exposed to showbiz at such a young age, Cassy knew that being an actress was what she wanted to pursue when she grows up.
Currently, Cassy and her brother Mavy are signed under GMA Artist Center. Most recently, Cassy showcased her acting chops in the teleserye First Yaya. She also has a new project lined up for her, proving that she's out to make a name for herself in her chosen field.
Cassy’s birthday is on January 6.
Cassy, whose full name is Maria Cassandra Legaspi, is born on January 6, 2001 with his twin brother Mavy in the U.S. As of writing, Cassy is 20 years old. For their 20th birthday, Cassy and her family held a simple celebration at home through a birthday salubong.
Who’s older, Cassy or Mavy?
When it comes to twins, it’s normally the baby who came out first that’s considered older, but in Cassy and Mavy’s case, it’s quite a tricky question to answer. In an old interview with Philstar, mommy Carmina explained how she gave birth to the twins and who is considered older between the two. Technically, it's Cassy who should be considered the older twin. According to Carmina, she had to deliver her twins via a Caesarian section, and it was Mavy who came first. But if she were to proceed with normal delivery, it was Cassy who would’ve come out first by a few minutes!
Cassy is a Business major in college.
Aside from pursuing her acting career, Cassy is also working towards earning a college degree. She is currently taking up Business Marketing in college. As a student-actress, Cassy got to experience working on school projects in between takes during shoots. She even enlisted the help of her co-stars for a project she had to submit while in lock-in taping. Talk about a memorable bonding experience with your castmates!
Cassy recently starred in First Yaya.
One of Cassy's acting projects is the GMA serye First Yaya where she got to start with Sanya Lopez, Gabby Concepcion, Sandy Andolong, Pancho Magno, and Joaquin Domagoso. Cassy is also part of a love team with Joaquin, and they've shown how good their chemistry is with each other on social media and onscreen!
Cassy has made good friends in the industry.
Throughout the years, Cassy has found some pretty good friends in the 'biz. Her barkada includes fellow Gen Z stars like Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Kyline Alcantara, Kyle Echarri, and Leon Barretto. Tbh, we want to be part of this squad, too!
Cassy has a YouTube channel.
Like many celebrities, you can find more Cassy content on her YouTube channel. As of writing, Cassy has around 238,000 subscribers on the platform. With five videos (so far!) on her channel, Cassy has shared her beauty routine, addressed assumptions about her, and shown fans BTS clips of her life as an actress. Here's hoping we get more vlogs in the near future! Aside from her own channel, you'll also find Cassy making guest appearances in her mom Carmina's videos.
Cassy's dream role is a superhero.
If you've ever wondered what kind of movies or shows Cassy would love to do in the future, then you might be surprised (or not!). According to Cassy, she would love to work on an action movie and take on challenging roles like superheroes or other unique characters. She would also be super game to train in martial arts for the role, if given the chance.Â
Another interesting goal she has for her showbiz career is to do a follow-up on her parents' characters. For instance, she shared that she would love to do a follow-up on Bagwis from Mulawin, her dad's character on the show.Â
Cassy's dream co-stars include KathNiel.
Tbh, who wouldn't like to work with top stars like Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla? For Cassy, though, the reason is a bit more personal. According to Cassy, it was actually Kathryn who inspired her to pursue acting after seeing her act firsthand in Got to Believe. Her mom brought her to the shoot one day (ICYDK, Carmina played the mom of Daniel on the show) and she was so impressed with how Kathryn and everyone worked on the set.
Aside from KathNiel, Cassy also named Liza Soberano as one of the artists she hopes to work with after seeing her on the set of Forevermore (where her dad starred as the father of Enrique Gil's character).
Among her fellow GMA stars, Cassy would like to finally work with Marian Rivera. ICYDK, Marian was supposed to play the lead role in First Yaya. Fingers crossed they get another project soon.
