We still can't believe that Candy turns 16 years old this month. That means 16 years of sweet, sweet friendship with you dearest, Candy Girls. Through the years, we've featured the hottest and brightest young stars on the cover of the Filipina teens' favorite magazine, so we can't help but feel a little nostalgic this month. Join us as we look at what some of our cover girls have been busy with after gracing the cover of Candy.
1 Amanda Griffin
Issue: March 1999
Then: Amanda was one of the country's most sought-after models when Candy was launched. Aside from modeling, she was also one of the hosts for the lifestyle TV show F and a VJ for Channel [V].
Now: Our very first Candy cover girl is now a wife and a lovely mom to her three kids. Amanda also blogs over Glam-O-Mamas where she shares her experiences as a mom and a wife.
2 Julie Lee
Issue: July 2001
Then: Julie Lee, or more known to people as Julianne Lee, won the Candy Teen Model Search that year. Aside from modeling, Julie also appeared in several TV shows on GMA, like Joyride and Kakabakaba Adventures.
Now: The former teen star is now back on TV via GMA. Julie just returned to acting in 2013 after studying and then working in a real estate company for several years.
3 Pia Wurtzbach
Issue: May 2001
Then: Aside from being a model, Filipino-German Pia also appeared on TV shows in ABS-CBN like Your Song and Bora. She even got to do films, too, like Kung Ako Na Lang Sana and All About Love in the early 2000s.
Now: Pia was just crowned as this year's Binibining Pilipinas Universe. She's joined the pageant twice before finally taking home the crown on her third try just recently.
4 Solenn Heussaff
Issue: August 2002
Then: Solenn was one of the brightest young models when Candy put her on the cover that year.
Now: The Filipino-French personality is now a designer, painter, singer, and an actress. After competing on Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown, Solenn's career went in full bloom. Her most notable projects to date are Temptation Island and My Valentine Girls.
5 Maja Salvador
Issue: August 2003
Then: Before she was known as Maja Salvador, she first graced the cover of Candy as teen model Maja Andres.
Now: Since her appearance on It Might Be You in 2003, Maja hasn't really stopped working for TV and the movies. Her most notable projects to date are The Legal Wife, Thelma, and One More Chance. Aside from acting, Maja is also known as the Dance Princess of the Philippines.
6 Iya Villania
Issue: June 2004
Then: Iya was one of the most famous teen stars when she became the cover girl for this Candy ish, as she starred in the teen-oriented TV show Click and hosted SOP GIgsters.
Now: Now Iya Villania-Arellano (she's married to travel and lifestyle host Drew Arellano), Iya is back on GMA as host for the lifestyle shows Taste Buddies and Mundo ni Juan.
7 Nikki Gil
Issue: December 2005
Then: Nikki just shot to fame after her memorable softdrinks commercial the year Candy put her on the cover.
Now: Nikki has appeared in various TV, movie, and stage productions since she did the cover for Candy. Her most memorable projects to date are Pieta, Hawak Kamay, and the Manila run of the off-Broadway musical The Last Five Years with Joaquin Valdes.
