Young entrepreneur Callie Ahmee recently received the ultimate gift from her parents. Guess what? It’s the keys to her own condo unit! The keys are symbolic of the "freedom" her parents entrusted her with. Callie plans to study in Australia to achieve her dream of becoming a pilot. To prepare Callie, her parents gifted her her own space to figure out how to live independently, months before flying out and living in a different country.
Dimples Romana, Callie’s mom, wrote a lengthy caption along with a photo of Callie holding the keys to her own place. According to the mom and actress, she also experienced the anxiety all parents face when they realize their children are already grown up and are starting to make their own choices in life. She wrote, “Gusto ko sabihin na dito ka nalang, pick a safer choice, one that will secure you, a good one but not necessarily one that you WANT, BUT DAD & I will NOT DO that to you."
In the end, Dimples put her trust in her daughter by stepping back and letting Callie discover life on her own. She added, “Only you can account for your happiness, so if that means we’ll have to wait here, patiently & eagerly, be away from you so you can GROW & LIVE FREELY and know how the outside world feels like, discover what beauty and kindness you can offer it, like what we said, WE’LL BE RIGHT HERE WHERE YOU WILL LEAVE US."
Callie is also the brains of Cal the Brand, a collaborative brand that offers a fresh and youthful take on existing rattan bags in the market. It’s a business born out of her love for fashion and her goal to support local products. As of the present, the brand has added clothing pieces to its catalog. Callie continues to dream big as she plans to branch out to furniture pieces. ICYDK, Callie managed every aspect of the business. She spoke to local artisans, co-designed the bags, and financed her business using the money she earned from her past endorsements.
