Attention, ARMYs: The Seoul leg of BTS’ 2020 Map of the Soul Tour—originally scheduled on April 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2020—has been cancelled. Big Hit Entertainment, the agency behind the seven-member boy group, announced the news via their fan community platform Weverse.

In the announcement, Big Hit Entertainment explains that the cancellation of the Seoul concerts was for health and safety concerns given the escalating COVID-19 outbreak in South Korea. The statement further reads, “While we hope that the situation will improve, we must take into consideration the health and safety of hundreds of thousands of guests as well as our artists and the dire impact a last-minute cancellation may have on our guests from overseas, production companies, and staff.”

As of February 28, Philippine Star reports that South Korea has a total of 2,022 coronavirus cases—the second highest in the world after China. The Philippines' travel ban for selected parts of South Korea is currently on hold, as per CNN Philippines. Once approved, Department of Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergerie says it will take 48 hours before implementation to make time for proper information dissemination. Filipinos, however, are advised by the local government to avoid “non-essential” travel to the country given the outbreak.
