BTS coveredĀ 2005's worldwide hymn "Fix You"Ā by Coldplay, and we can't stop listening (or crying) to it.
On Wednesday night's MTV Unplugged, home to some of the mostĀ iconic musical performances in history, BTSĀ performed nothing short of a mini-concert with fiveĀ songs, each with different sets and outfits. The group lit the episode with their lead single "Life Goes On"Ā and the first live performance of "Telepathy" and "Blue & Grey" from their latest album,Ā BE. They ended it with their Grammy-nominated song, "Dynamite", and their surprise cover for the ARMY, "Fix You".
BTS's cover is the top trending music-related video on YouTube in the US, and the song re-entered the top 200 on US iTunes.
BTS's Jimin explained that they chose this song because "it gave us comfort, so we wanted to prepare this cover to comfort you as well."
Their rendition of the song featured gorgeous harmonies from the vocal line (Jung Kook, V, Jin, and Jimin) and the rap line (SUGA, j-hope, and RM),Ā conveying their own sincerity and soulfulness. With over 8 million views already, both fans andĀ non-fans expressed their positive reactions to the coverāin many listeners' opinions, BTS maintained the song's intimacy and nailed it. Even Coldplay themselves sent all the love to the band on Twitter and Instagram, writing "beautiful" in Hangul with their members' initials.
