Bianca Umali was only a kid when she landed a spot in GMA's Tropang Potchi, and she has since gone on to star in some of GMA's prime shows, such as Sahaya where she plays the titular role, Mulawin vs Ravena, Kambal Karibal, and Once Upon a Kiss.
With an already impressive professional resume, it's easy to forget that Bianca is only 20 years old. But despite growing up in the public eye, she's somehow managed to stay relatively low-key, grounded, and totally relatable.
Consider yourself a fan? Here are eight things to know about Bianca Umali:
After 10 years as an actress, Bianca released her first single in 2020.
"Kahit Kailan" is the Kapuso star's first single with GMA Music. The track was written by Paco Arespacochaga.
The lyric video was launched in March and the official MV was released shortly after:
Bianca is super close to her grandmother.
Bianca lost her parents at a young age, so she was pretty much raised by her grandmother. She was her rock, and the one who accompanied Bianca to all her auditions when she was young. “My lola was always supportive of everything I do. She was there for me. She’s my superhero. Without her, I don’t know where I would be now,” Bianca said in her interview with Preview in March.
But she's also very independent.
Bianca grew up in a busy and incredibly lively house with her half-siblings and cousins, of which she was the eldest. The eldest of 12 kids, she became her lola's "assistant" and was busy doing household chores, and would even help take care of infants and young children.
Bianca spends on two things: food and books!
According to a feature on Pep.ph, Bianca isn't the type to really collect designer items as she grew up very thrifty. Her two biggest expenses and regular splurges, though, are food and books. (Hard same, Bianca!)
In fact, she even gives book recos occasionally on her feed. Recently, she shared Jessica Knoll's Luckiest Girl Alive and S.J. Watson's Before I Go To Sleep. "Worth the read, worth sharing. Indeed, a pure page-turner," she wrote about the latter. (Fellow bookworms, check out some of our latest YA Romance Novel recos here.)
It's all about balance for Bianca.
According to Bianca in this video by Preview, she treats herself to a luxury item only if she's just completed a big project. Her personal rule is to buy only "if the achievement is worth the prize." She also says it takes a lot of time and research before she spends on something expensive.
She's practical, but ~stylish~.
Her top designer items are comfortable, neutral, and can be easily incorporated into any outfit. A peek at her IG also shows Bianca's love for sneakers, mixing and matching basics, and pants!
She graduated from Veritas Catholic School in Parañaque City.
Bianca graduated from senior high school in March 2019.
In a previous interview with Pep.ph, the actress shared that while she doesn't know what the future holds, all she knows is that she wants to keep following her passion. When asked about where she sees herself in 10 years, she answered: "Ang hirap na magsalita, kahit magsalita ka for what will happen to you tomorrow, puwede siya magbago. Or kahit mamaya, pag-alis ko dito, hindi ko alam ang mangyayari.
"Ang unpredictable, pero siguro in 10 years, 28 ako noon? Happy, blessed, fulfilled, contented."
Bianca and Ruru Madrid are notoriously private about their relationship.
Bianca and Ruru were first spotted together in August 2018, but rarely post about each other on their social media accounts. The couple made headlines by *sort of* going IG official and posting sweet messages for each other on Bianca's birthday in March.
Ruru posted a candid pic and kept the caption short but v sweet. "Happy birthday moonlight," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Bianca posted a photo of her birthday cake on her IG story and wrote:
"To the people who wished and greeted me a happy birthday, thank you. To everyone who was part of last night, friends and family, maraming salamat! Mahal ko kayo!!! Sobra sobraaa. To @rurumadrid8, thank you for always keeping me happy, for everything."
