During the April 2021 Apple Event, the tech giant introduced new features Apple enthusiasts can expect from its wide range of products, including an essential privacy feature that lets iOS users control which apps can track their activity and data.
iOS 14.5 new features
Have you ever felt suspicious after seeing an ad for a product you were just thinking about earlier? Apple's latest iOS update now carries a feature that will prevent this from happening. In iOS 14.5, users will now be able to choose whether or not an app can be given permission to track their device's data and behavior through the App Tracking Transparency feature. This is especially useful for users who don't want apps to track user behavior for targeted advertisements.
Aside from this new privacy feature, iOS 14.5 also allows users with an Apple Watch to unlock their phones without having to remove their face masks. When the Face ID feature used to unlock phones detects that the user is wearing a face mask, they will be able to unlock their phone through a synced Apple Watch instead.
Other features in the update include a new set of around 200 emojis and more options to choose from for Siri's voice.
When will the iOS 14.5 be available?
The latest iOS update will be released some time next week.
What devices are compatible with iOS 14.5?
