Ansel Elgort is the latest Hollywood star to be accused of sexual assault. In a now-deleted post, a Twitter user under the name @Itsgabby alleged that Elgort had sexually assaulted her in 2014, just days after she turned 17 years old.

In the post that has since circulated online, @Itsgabby narrated how she met the actor after she sent him a DM and she got his private Snapchat.

"I'm not posting this to 'clout chase' because I simply don't care for that," she clarified. "I'm posting this so I can finally heal and I know I'm not alone and he's done this to other girls."

She then details what happened when she said she was raped. According to her, the Fault In Our Stars actor knew it was her first time and that he didn't stop even if she was "sobbing in pain and I didn't want to do it..."

"I WASNT there in that moment mentally. I dissociated myself and just felt like my mind was gone and I was in shock I couldn't leave."

The actor also allegedly asked for nudes, and to have a threesome with one of her "dance friends."

"He made me think this is how sex was supposed to be," she wrote. "I WAS SO YOUNG AND HE KNEW THAT. He as well said stuff like ‘you’re going to be such a beautiful young lady when you’re older.’ I was f***ing 17."

"I sat there for months wondering what I did wrong. Wondering why I felt so used," she wrote in her text note. "Years later I have PTSD, I have panic attacks, I go to therapy. Finally, I’m ready to talk about it and finally heal. I just want to heal and I want to tell other girls who have been through the same shit as me, you’re not alone. It’s a lot for me to even come on here and tell my story but I know it’s needed. There’s much more to my story I simply don’t want to post it all." (via Variety, Complex)

In response to the allegations, the actor released a statement via a note on his Instagram. While he admits to knowing and having a relationship with the original poster, the actor claims he did not commit sexual assault.

"What is true is that in New York in 2014, when I was 20, Gabby and I had a brief, legal and entirely consensual relationship. Unfortunately, I did not handle the breakup well. I stopped responding to her, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone. I know this belated apology does not absolve me of my unacceptable behavior when I disappeared."

As of now, there are no legal charges against the actor.

Elgort rose to fame after playing the role of Caleb in the Divergent film franchise, a series of movie adaptations of YA novels with the same title. His upcoming projects, according to his IMDb page, include playing Tony in Steven Spielberg's take on West Side Story, and Jake Adelstein in TV Series Tokyo Vice.

#MeToo Movement

Many people have taken to social media to express their opinions, especially with the ongoing momentum of the Time's Up and #MeToo movement.

The #MeToo movement began in 2017 when multiple women, including Pinay model Ambra Gutierrez, stepped up and accused powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. He has since been convicted, and was sentenced to 23 years in prison in March 2020.

Since then, more than a hundred men from Hollywood (producers, musicians, actors, directors, and more) have been accused of rape, violence, or sexual misconduct. Actors and crew members from all genders have also opened up about their own experiences of assault and harassment. Earlier this month, That '70s Show actor Danny Masterson was charged on three counts of rape.
