It has been about 18 hours since the announcement has been made that Zayn Malik is leaving One Direction, but—you guessed it—we're still trying our best to accept the news. Since the statement has been made, Directioners from all over the world are including the hashtag #AlwaysInOurHeartsZaynMalik to express their sadness about it.
We know you're all busy stalking the hashtag and patiently waiting for Liam Payne, Niall Horan, or Zayn Malik tweet (Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson already did) and say something about this sad, sad news. But while you're at it, we've also done all the stalking for you to gather what some of the people who work closely with One Direction have said about the issue.
Simon Cowell, one of the judges for The X Factor and the primary person responsible for putting these boys together, said a few encouraging words on his account.
Sometimes strength is not defined by numbers.

As always you the fans have shown your amazing support to all the boys. When you have great talent great things happen.

We do know that strength isn't in numbers, because we'll be supporting all of them no matter what. But things will never be the same.
Even Josh Devine, drummer for 1D ICYDK, did his share of trying to cheer up everyone with an Instagram photo and a few positive words.
Apologies, was just trying to put some positive energy out there in a sad time! #NothingButLove

Producer and director Ben Winston who did the MVs for "You & I" and "Night Changes" among others also expressed how sad he was by the news in just three words. And we totally get how he feels. Not enough words in the dictionary to express how heartbroken and devastated we are about this revelation.
Sad day today x

*sigh* This is really it, right? Zayn has finally left, but we're still in the slow, slow process of making sense of the announcement. We know all of you are, too, Candyrectioners. Let's just continue wishing the boys well as they go through a new chapter of their careers. They're just as frightened and heartbroken as we all are—even more. We just wish them the best of everything, just like what The X Factor's Twitter account said.
Good luck @zaynmalik and @OneDirection in their new adventures. #Directioners & #XFactor fans thank you for being you pic.twitter.com/dWAK6ktN0e
