Now 22 years old, Alexa Ilacad has been in the entertainment industry for most of her life. She definitely has a lot on her plate with countless tapings and guestings, but that never stopped her from taking her studies seriously.
In a Magandang Buhay episode last week, Alexa revealed that she pushed herself to excel in college because she didn’t want to receive any special treatment for being an artista.
“Kaya po akong sobrang nag-pursige kasi I wanted to prove to them na hindi ako artista lang. Kaya kong sumabay sa inyo lahat kahit hindi ako nakakapasok or late ako dumadating,” she said.
Apparently, Alexa was filming The Killer Bride while completing her Marketing Management degree at Treston International College. Needless to say, balancing work with school was a real challenge for the young star.
“Honestly, ubod siya ng hirap talaga. Iniiyakan ko siya palagi, hindi siya talaga madali,” she said, recounting that she would come to class directly from 6 a.m. tapings in Lucban without getting the chance to sleep properly.
“Minsan nakakatulog nalang ako sa gym area ng school namin, sa bleachers. Ayoko kasi na bigyan nila ako ng special treatment. Although they are very understanding talaga, pero ayoko ng meron akong special treatment. Ayoko po yung sinasabi na, ‘Ah, kasi artista siya eh,’” she added.
ICYDK, Alexa graduated from college as a dean’s lister with a GWA of 1.00 last year. Now, she's preparing for a new drama series with her love team partner KD Estrada.
We don’t know how this multi-tasking queen does it, but we’re certainly happy that all her efforts eventually bore fruit. So proud of you, Alexa!
