21-year-old Alexa Ilacad is graduating from college as a Dean's Lister with an average of 1.00, and she's being compared to her go-getter Four Sisters Before The Wedding character, Bobbie Salazar! Alexa started acting at the age of eight and has been juggling school and work ever since. She recently finished her studies at Treston International College, where she took up a three-year business course and majored in Marketing.
Alexa Ilacad on being compared to Bobbie Salazar
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Alexa reacted to comments on social media that she's just like Bobbie, saying: "Nakakatawa, I knew [people would be saying that]...I'm very flattered na feeling nila isinabuhay ko si Bobbie."
She added. "Honestly, hindi naman ako talaga matalino sobra. But what I am is masipag. So I think that's what people need. We need that tiyaga, we need that extra effort to achieve what we want...I just work extra hard. These things didn't come easy for me."
"I was pushing myself, doing everything. I was very ambitious. I wanted to prove myself, that I wasn't just an artista. People were belittling me. I wanted to prove them wrong," Alexa said, referring to her very ambitious first-year college self. After a while, she realized that she was becoming mean and masungit to others because she was so stressed, and that's when she decided to take a step back. Believe it or not, Alexa would sometimes have to go to class straight from taping The Killer Bride in Lucban, Quezon, without getting the chance to shower!
"People only see the victories, the photos I post, my flat uno. But they never knew that I also got low grades sometimes, especially during the times where I'm just so busy...Madami rin akong failures."
According to Alexa, "Just finding out that I'm graduating on time, that's actually the best day for me. Bonus na lang yung Dean's List."
