AC Bonifacio Reacts to Winning 2nd Place In BLACKPINK's Dance Cover Contest

On June 26, 2020, BLACKPINK wowed the world when they made their long-awaited return with "How You Like That." A month prior, YG Entertainment announced the group's three-step comeback, which also involves a second song to be released in July or August and their first studio album, which is scheduled for September. The studio album's release has since been pushed to October 2, 2020.

In July, the K-pop group dropped a dance performance video for "How You Like That," making it easier for BLINKs to learn the choreography.

On the same day, BLACKPINK launched the dance contest on their social media pages:

The Filipina-Canadian performer posted about the tear-worthy moment on Instagram: "My best friends called me congratulating [me] and I was completely unaware and I jumped out [of] the car and [started] screaming and told the team!!! This cover meant SO SO MUCH TO ME because before this, a lot was being said about me and I wanted to back off 'cause I'm human, I get hurt and I was scared of what people would say. But we all pushed [through] because we absolutely love BLACKPINK. Not just me but the whole team. We pushed [through] because no matter what people said, it would not change the love and support I have for BLACKPINK."

In April 2019, BLACKPINK's choreographers, Kiel Tutin and Kyle Hanagmi, praised the young dancer for her cover of "Kill This Love." Kyle Hanagami commented "yes" with four fire emojis and according to Kiel Tutin, AC "killed this."
