A Show For Every Mood
When I need some fitspiration, I watch Breaking Pointe, a ballet reality series on The CW. I don’t do ballet, but the dancers’ toned and strong bodies are TDF! Did you know that they begin every single day with a ballet class? Oh, and that contrary to popular belief, they need to eat a lot since they burn so many calories while dancing? They need the energy to keep them on their toes (literally!) and for the guys to be able to lift the ladies over their heads.
When I want to swoon over cute guys, I watch Twisted, a high school drama on ABC Family. Victorious’s Avan Jogia stars as Danny Desai, who returns to his hometown after serving time for killing his aunt when he was a little kid (or did he?). Yeah, the premise is a tad too soap-ish and the show as a whole leaves a lot to be desired, but Avan is just adorable. Twisted also stars another brooding cutie: Grey Damon from The Nine Lives of Chloe King, The Secret Circle, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and new show Star-Crossed.
When I feel down in the dumps, I watch Showtime’s Shameless, an edgy, darkly funny show about a “white trash” family doing their best to make ends meet. I just feel like I have no right to complain or give up when I see their ate-slash-breadwinner Fiona Gallagher working herself to the bone. If this fictional character—who’s most probably based on a real person—can do it, how can I not? Note: Shameless is for older kids; SPG, you guys.
When I feel like tweeting something passive-aggressive, I tune in to ETC’s America’s Next Top Model (Wednesdays at 8pm). Smizing and booching aside, seeing all that cattiness makes me realize that having the last word, that last parinig tweet is just not worth it in the long run. I mean, how many models have been eliminated because they got sidetracked by all the drama? Rise above, just rise above it.
Let's end on a lighter note—here's happy Avan! <3
