Interactions among K-pop idols seem quite rare, especially if they belong to different entertainment agencies. They may be in competition on the charts, but in real life, some of your favorite K-pop artists are actually good friends. Fans, especially multi-stans, love to see it when their faves share precious moments together. In case you didn’t know, here are 10 beloved friendships between K-pop idols.
TWICE’s Chaeyoung and Somi
Somi, who is now a solo artist signed under The Black Label, used to be a K-pop trainee alongside TWICE’s Chaeyoung. She was also part of the reality program Sixteen which eventually formed the girl group TWICE. Somi may have parted ways with TWICE’s entertainment label, but the two remained really close. Chaeyoung even appeared on Somi’s vlog where they hung out together in a café.
Blackpink and Red Velvet
Blackpink and Red Velvet are arguably two of the biggest K-pop girl groups. They also share a special bond and have been seen interacting sweetly with each other several times. Blackpink’s Jennie and Red Velvet’s Irene once met up in LA when their respective groups had official schedules there, Red Velvet’s Seulgi often leaves comments on Blackpink Jisoo’s Insta posts, and Red Velvet’s Joy was very open about her fondness over Blackpink’s Rosé. So much love!
Girls’ Day’s Hyeri and Blackpink’s Rosé
Hyeri, who also starred in the popular K-drama Reply 1988, was such a sweet senior to Rosé that they eventually clicked and got really close with each other. The two first met when they appeared on the South Korean variety show Amazing Saturday and have been regularly meeting up to eat ever since.
Blackpink and Somi
Ever since Somi signed with The Black Label, a subsidiary of Blackpink’s agency YG Entertainment, the girls have been actively supporting each other by promoting their respective projects on social media. Blackpink’s Lisa also recently appeared on Somi’s vlog where they caught up over Animal Crossing. Somi even got to ask Lisa for advice regarding her song’s choreography, seeing as Lisa is the main dancer of her group.
Red Velvet’s Joy and GFRIEND’s Yerin
Joy and Yerin became friends because they’re the same age (both were born in 1996). They would take each other’s photos when they visit cafes together and even wear matching ‘fits. Cute!
Red Velvet’s Yeri and TWICE’s Nayeon
TWICE’s Nayeon and Red Velvet’s Yeri are known as two of the most social idols. They’re literally friends with everyone—and with each other, of course! Even though Nayeon is four years older than Yeri, both share an adorable bond. Nayeon even appeared as the first ever guest on Yeri’s talk show. We love a supportive friend!
BTS and GOT7
Members of these two boy groups also have brotherly interactions with one another in awards and music shows. BTS’ RM and GOT7’s Jackson have been friends for years and even got a short reunion at the 2017 AMAs. The youngest members of both groups, BTS’ Jungkook and GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom, are also really tight.
Speaking of, BTS’ Jungkook and GOT7’s BamBam and Yugyeom have a special squad of same-aged male idols called the ’97 liners. Aside from the three, other members are Seventeen’s Mingyu, The8, DK, NCT’s Jaehyun, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo.
Block B’s P.O. and WINNER’s Mino
Here’s proof that you can remain friends with your high school tropa: Block B’s resident rapper P.O. and Winner’s own rapper Mino, who were friends since high school, still stay in touch even though they’re now both successful idols. They even surprise each other on their birthdays, like any typical best friends do.
