Thought your favorite celebrities were handed their remarkable roles on a silver platter? Nope. They actually went in for screen tests (maybe several of those) and were competing with other actors. But somehow, they managed to stand out from the crowd and take the roles home for themselves. Here, we compiled 7 of your fave stars' audition tapes to show you what they did before acting in front of the cameras which made them worthy of their roles.

1. Chloe Moretz reads for Eli in Let Me In.

2. Rachel McAdams for Allie Hamilton in The Notebook.

3. Emma Stone auditions for Olive Penderghast in Easy A.

4. Glee's Lea Michele relives how she ruined her audition for the role of Rachel Barry.

5. Blake Lively reads for Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl.

6. Cory Monteith reveals how he did his auditon for Finn Hudson on Glee.

7. Ed Westwick reads a few lines for Gossip Girl, and he later bagged the role of Chuck Bass.
