5 Teen Movies As Old As Candy
We're turning 15 this month, dearest Candy Girls! It's like yesterday when we released our very first ish with Amanda Griffin on the cover. It was also like yesterday when we watched these movies inside cinemas or with our VHS players. Fifteen years and a hundred rewatches later, the life lessons in these films still ring true—so, we thought, you'll love them as much as we do too.
Here's a confession: football is like foreign language to us. But we just can't miss this coming-of-age football movie because of James Van Der Beek a.k.a. Dawson in Dawson's Creek. Doesn't sound familiar? You know, the guy we originally wanted to end up with Katie Holmes until Tom Cruise came into the picture.
Drive Me Crazy
Before She's Dating the Gangster, we had Drive Me Crazy. If you loved the book, then you will surely love this film. Britney Spears's "Drive Me Crazy" playing in the background doesn't hurt either.
She's All That
You know the drill: Mr. Perfect falls for the average girl (which BTW turns out to be Ms. Perfect once she's made over). And you can also say hello to one of the 90s' most beautiful human beings—Freddie Prinze, Jr.—and the adorkable Rachael Leigh Cook for us.
Never Been Kissed
A young Drew Barrymore showing you how high school is supposed to be done? It doesn't get better than that. Don't even get us started with her hunk of a teacher who sweeps her off her feet in the end.
10 Things I Hate About You
We can go on and on about how wonderful this movie is (too wonderful that it's considered one of the classic teen movies), but we'll give you two good reasons to watch it instead: Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt.
