5 Reasons Why the New Wonder Woman Kicks Serious Butt
Going into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you're bound to be asked: are you on Team Batman or Team Superman? While we have our own picks and would actually rather have everyone just get along, the clear winner for us was neither guys but Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot. More than her statuesque beauty and super glam OOTDs, it's her commanding presence that’s got us hooked. Batman and Superman are such daunting figures, but she walks and talks like she’s right at home with these superheroes—or no, like she's got them in the palm of her hand, which she totally does. Remember that part in the trailer when she showed up in the middle of a fight to save their butts, and they wondered if she was with either of them? Yeah, no, boys, she's her own person and doesn’t need rescuing.
We did a little digging and found out that off-screen, Gal is actually even more impressive. Here are five things about her that make her a real-life Wonder Woman.

At 18, she was scouted for the Miss Israel pageant and was crowned the winner in 2004. She tells Glamour, "I thought it would be a nice experience. I never thought I would win!" When it came time for the Miss Universe pageant, she was a total rebel, afraid that she would "get picked" again. "(The other contestants) loved me because I wasn't a threat. (laughs) I made friends with women from all over the world! And because of Miss Israel, I started modeling and traveling."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
She's also a soldier.
Gal served in the Israeli army for two years, becoming a combat trainer. She tells Glamour, "I wish no country had the need for an army. But in Israel, serving is part of being an Israeli. You've got to give back to the state. You give two or three years, and it's not about you. You give your freedom away. You learn discipline and respect."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
She's a pro at handling criticism.
When she was cast as the Amazon warrior, the size of her breasts became a big discussion on the Internet. Gal knew she couldn't please everyone and even said in an interview that if you really want to stay true to the myths, Amazons cut off one breast (!) to be able to wield a bow and arrow better. Gal tells Coming Soon, "I understand that part of what I'm doing means being exposed. And part of being exposed is being under fire."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
She's not a regular mom, she's a cool mom.
Gal tells Interview, "When I choose a role, I always think about whether my daughter can get something out of it when she watches the movie later on. Or even just show her that Mommy's doing what Mommy loves to do." Her daughter Alma is aware that she's playing Wonder Woman and when Alma saw her tiara, she had only one question: "Mommy, am I a princess?" So cute!ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

Before getting the role of a lifetime, she went to countless auditions, shuttling from Tel Aviv to Hollywood and back again, all while juggling her studies and familial duties. "Nothing I planned happened," she tells Glamour. "But whenever opportunity arose, I was prepared and positive. And all those things I didn't get, all those 'almosts'—if I got them, I wouldn't be Wonder Woman. What's mine is mine, and what's not mine was never meant to be."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
