Famous music streaming platform Spotify has finally released the much-awaited Spotify Wrapped 2021. Unique to each user, Wrapped is an annual compilation of each listener’s most-streamed artists, songs, and even podcasts released towards the end of the year. In 2021, Spotify Wrapped reveals that more and more Filipinos have begun listening to a wide range of local artists, music, and podcasts.
While all avid users of the app get a personalized Wrapped experience, the Philippines also gets its own, revealing these 5 most streamed artists across the country.
5 most streamed artists in the Philippines on Spotify in 2021:
1.BTS
It’s no surprise that Korean boy band BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan, dominated Spotify Philippines as the country’s most-streamed artist of 2021. In the other Wrapped lineups, BTS’ BE album is #4 on the Philippines’ most streamed albums of the year while their digital single "Butter" sits at #2 of the country’s most-streamed songs of the year.
2. Taylor Swift
The second most-streamed artist in the Philippines is none other than singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who released both Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) earlier this year. The latter, released in early November, helped Swift break two Spotify records less than a week after its debut as the most-streamed album in a single day by a female and as the most-streamed female artist in a single day.
3. Justin Bieber
The Philippines’ third most-streamed artist of 2021 is Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber, who earlier this year released his sixth studio album, Justice. Its lead single, "Peaches", featuring R&B singer and fellow Canadian Daniel Caesar became an instant hit in Philippine charts after its release.
4. Ben&Ben
Also sitting as the Philippines’ most streamed OPM artist for the second year in a row, folk-pop group Ben&Ben is the country’s fourth most-streamed artist. Their second studio album, Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno, was released in August of this year.
5. Ariana Grande
Sitting pretty at number 5, we can confidently say that Filipinos all over still love streaming Ariana Grande’s music, despite taking a break from music to focus on other endeavors.
