Ever wondered how your favorite Filipino actors started out in the 'biz? We give you this list, Candy Girls! We stalked some of your faves and researched about their very first acting projects. All of them have changed a lot and have now left an unforgettable mark in the entertainment industry.
- James Reid in Maynila: Loving Your Own (2011)
After being named as the big winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010, James explored the industry and even appeared as a host and a performer on Shoutout. But one of his very first acting projects was on GMA's weekly TV program, Maynila, where he appeared with then love team and former PBB-housemate Devon Seron.
- Nadine Lustre in Petrang Kabayo (2010)
Nadine started working for TV in 2002 as a host on Storyland and on Disney Channel on Assignment. Her first acting projects, though, include Maalala Mo Kaya's Regalo episode on TV in 2006 and Petrang Kabayo in 2010 on the big screen.
- Kathryn Bernardo in It Might Be You (2003)
Kath, before she was known as this generation's teen queen, started acting at a very young age. Her very first assignment? It was in 2003, as young Cielo on the TV series It Might Be You. Check out that baby girl!
- Daniel Padilla in Gimik 2010 (2010)
Before he captured hearts of televiewers here and abroad, the teen king (just like his lady love!) started acting at a young age. Those who've watched Gimik 2010 in 2010 would surely remember him as the mischievous Daniel Ledesma. What a cutie!
- Gabbi Garcia in My Destiny (2014)
It's hard to believe that the beautiful Gabbi, who plays Alena on Encantadia now, just started her career in 2014. Yes, you read that right. Gabbi's first role was as Nicole Perez on My Destiny, where televiewers first noticed her undeniable chemistry with Ruru Madrid.
- Ruru Madrid in Paroa: Ang Kwento ni Mariposa (2012)
Speaking of Ruru, this young actor who's a product of the talent show Protege made his acting debut on GMA's fantasy TV series Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa. Nowadays, you can see him playing the role of Ybrahim on Encantadia with his love team Gabbi Garcia.
- Liza Soberano in Wansapanataym: Mac Ulit-Ulit (2011)
Liza began her acting career in 2011 via ABS-CBN's weekly TV program Wansapanataym. She played the role of Mac, a lazy teenager who asks the help of another being to do her chores at home, on the episode Mac Ulit-Ulit.
- Barbie Forteza in Stairway to Heaven (2009)
In 2009, Filipino televiewers were thrilled when GMA decided to do a Filipino remake of the Korean drama Stairway to Heaven. A very young Barbie was cast on the show as the young Jodi, who was played by Rhian Ramos later on.
- Ivan Dorschner in Maynila: Girl Name... Faith (2011)
Just like his former PBB housemate, James Reid, Ivan also had his acting debut on GMA's weekly program Maynila. He appeared on this episode opposite another former PBB housemate, Tricia Santos. These days, the actor plays Ethan on the TV series Meant to Be which also stars Barbie Forteza.
- Enrique Gil in I Love Betty La Fea (2008)
Enrique was just starting in the 'biz in 2008. His very first acting role then was as a model, a bit role on ABS-CBN's remake of the Mexican telenovela I Love Betty La Fea.
- Julia Montes in Hiram (2004)
Julia started acting at a young age, too. Her very first acting project was in 2001 for GMA's TV series, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga. This was followed by her role on Hiram as the young Stephanie Borromeo in 2004.
- Julia Barretto in Walang Kapalit (2007)
This young actress first graced TV in 2006 as Isabelle on Gulong ng Palad. After her stint on the show, Julia was cast the following year to play the younger version of her aunt Claudine Barretto on the drama series Walang Kapalit.
- Joshua Garcia in Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita (2015)
Before Joshua stole our hearts in the movie Vince and Kath and James, Joshua first appeared on the shows Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita and You're Still the One in 2015.
- Elisse Joson in Wansapanataym: The Fairy Garden (2012)
We all know her as the heartbroken girl from a famous fastfood chain's commercial, but Elisse was actually already working on her acting career even before that. Her first acting roles? She played Lambana on Wansapanataym's Fairy Garden episode and Ruby on Maalala Mo Kaya's Cards episode.
- Yassi Pressman in Gulong ng Palad (2006)
This talented girl's acting debut happened way back 2006. We spotted a young Yassi on the TV drama Gulong ng Palad, playing the role of young Luisa.
