10 Things We Found Out About 2AM
Philippine mainstream music today could be likened to a buffet with flavors from all over the globe, and a taste that has been quickly catching on and satisfying to Filipino palates is Korean music! K-Pop, as we call it, is being incorporated in the playlists of local radio stations and music TV channels. Yes, Filipinos are getting hooked on Korean music, inflating the already huge fan count. And because of this, big Korean acts such as Super Junior even dropped by to cater to their Filipino fans. Now, there is yet another addition to the list of Korean acts that have dropped by our country for a visit, namely: 2AM! Candymag.com was lucky enough to have been invited to get some details about these endearing crooners!
- The Philippines was their first stop in their Asian tour.
Jinwoon, Jo Kwon, Seulong, and Changmin have 8 countries to visit in the upcoming months for their Saint O’Clock promo tour, making Philippines as their first ever destination! These boys sure know their priorities.
- They’re not your typical K-Pop group.
2AM’s musical style offers more than simple satisfaction for your K-pop fancy. This band actually takes on a new character of K-Pop with their heartmelting ballads and R&B songs.
- They put much effort in their craft.
Jo Kwon mentioned, in Korean, “Saint O'Clock is the first full album of 2AM and [we] really put an effort in preparing it. The album has all new songs including 'You Wouldn't Answer My Calls' and 'Like Crazy' which have been well received.”
- They turn to fellow Korean artists for inspiration.
Another chart topping K-Pop group called G.O.D. serves as 2AM’s role models. In addition, they also pointed out that their “producer, mentor, and good kuya” Park Jin Young is someone that they look up to in the music industry.
- They all have a diverse and active lifestyles.
Each member of the group makes room for leisure despite their busy schedules. "We do what we like during our spare time. [It] helps us relieve stress. We like to exercise, watch movies, and improve our music and skills." Jinwoon, the youngest member, said that he plays the drums, the guitar and other instruments if he’s not busy. 2AM’s leader Jo Kwon,on the other hand, shared that he enjoys watching movies with friends. Changmin affirmed that he loves cooking, even buying banana catsup to try it out. Lastly, Seulong brought up that he likes to shop and collect accessories.
- Each member of 2AM has a fondness for accessories!
Jinwoon likes “simple, [stylish] watches,” Jo Kwon “likes things that are very colorful, unique, [and in] special edition,” Changmin however, “likes to collect shoes and backpacks,” and finally, different bracelets and rings for Seulong even if "keeps losing them." Don't you just love how they treat accessories as a big part of their wardrobe? :)
- The Korean wave or the ‘Hallyu’ wave has been very helpful in heightening 2AM's career worldwide.
Jo Kwon mentioned that “Hallyu wave is spreading around the world through the Internet and other access like Twitter and Facebook. We are happy that while we do our best in Korea in terms of how we perform in our individual roles, it affects the fans and helps them to love 2AM even better.”
- 2AM likes to tickle our funny bones!
Throughout the press conference, the group kept everyone entertained with their witty answers and amusing comments. An example of which was Jo Kwon’s comment: “[I] like earrings bracelets, rings, everything, [all types of] accessories from head to toe except for the toe.” Amusing, right? Another winner line was from Changmin, saying “many of you are taking pictures so please pick the great pictures, not the ugly ones, okay?” How adorable!
- They regularly update their Twitter account
After asking Jo Kwon, being the most active on online among the four of them about the use of Twitter, he said that “[We] try to tweet about everything like food and [our] pictures, and things like that because [we] want to communicate with their fans”.
- 2AM will definitely revisit the Philippines!
As the event came to a close, the group articulates that “[We’re] really happy to meet very passionate fans and [we’re] very thankful that there are many people present here.. [We] want to come back many times, and [we] hope to see you again!”
Their special edition album entitled “Saint O’Clock” has 2 bonus tracks and a DVD packed with 4 music videos, and is available in our local music bars released under MCA Music Philippines.
