10 Questions with Fallen's Harrison Gilbertson

We got the chance to have an exclusive interview with Harrison Gilbertson, the young Hollywood actor who plays Cameron "Cam" Briel, a fallen angel and part of the protagonist's love triangle from the book-based film, Fallen. (ICYDK, the movie's in cinemas right now!) Being in the movies Need for Speed and Accidents Happen, he's an actor that's definitely someone to watch out for.
- Do you believe in soulmates?
"Yes! I believe that we have many soulmates, and not just romantically. My father is a soulmate of mine, my best friend is a soulmate of mine. So it could be a parent, a child, a best friend, or a lover. I think they are all soul mates of different forms."
- What's the best part about playing Cam?
"I think it's the experience that I had on and off set was the best part. I think as a person I grew a lot, and performance-wise, I hadn't played anyone so confident before—and that was also a great treat to play that character."
- Do you believe in love at first sight?
"I do, I think it happens. I don't think it necessarily means that it's the very first time you look at somebody, but it could be a month down the track or years down the track where you have a moment where you look at somebody you known as well and go 'wow, this is the person that I really love."
- Did you do your own stunts in the film?
"We did a predominant amount and sometimes the stunt doubles came in. But most of the time, it was us because they wanted to see our faces in the fight scenes. So, a lot of the times it was us up there, flying around, kicking each other, and dodging punches!"
- Since Cam is in a love triangle, what advice would you give him if you could?
"GET OUT!"
- If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
"I'd like Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society. That would be a good guy to be, that you are 50 and you still get an influence on people, and you still have a laugh."
- Who were you in your past life?
"I might have been some sad poet or revolutionist in France."
- From any fictional character, who do you think would be the best one to play Cam?
"Kiefer Sutherland from the Lost Boys. He's from a vampire film in the '80s. With a big leather jacket, earrings and long hair. He's a bit of a rogue."
- What was the best advice you've ever gotten?
"The best advice I ever got was 'acceptance.' Just that word. Just accept things when you're feeling upset, accept them. Accept them when you're feeling good or bad."
- What's the worst advice?
"I've probably down a few things from the recommendations of others. I won't exaggerate but they had some pretty interesting results. That maybe, I shouldn't have listened to their advice."
When asked about his stay in the Philippines, here's what he said:
"It's been wonderful. Since the minute I got out of the plane, everyone has been hospitable and kind in a very genuine way. Already, this trip is going to stay with me for a very long time."
