28-year old author, Lauren Kate, visited Manila for the first time last November 28 for a book-signing event. Fans of the Fallen book series flocked to The Podium Atrium for a chance to get a glimpse of their favorite author. Lucky readers even had the chance to meet her and get their books signed. Think her books are cool? Here are some things that’ll make you love this brunette author even more!
- Her two latest books, Fallen and Torment, both made it to the New York Times Bestseller List. Both books were on the list for months.
- The Philippines was the first country that she ever went to in Asia! She claims to have loved eating our famous halo-halo.
- You’d be surprised to know that Cam’s character is actually based on her real-life husband!
- Lauren started writing fiction stories at the young age of 17. This proves that it’s never too early to start making a name for yourself.
- Although her books are usually compared with the Twilight series, she believes that the famous Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer started a wonderful thing regarding the sudden influx of teen romances in the paranormal genre. She’s very grateful that Meyer was able to open a lot of possibilities and was able to introduce a new world where readers can stretch their imagination to the fullest.
- Her main goal before was just to have a book published. She never expected that after the publication, her work would be a great success internationally. She humbly says that everything that came after that was just the gravy on top.
- She tries to live her life as open as possible, and she advises her fans to do the same.
- Two words: Passion and Rapture. These are the two books that will complete the Fallen series. The 3rd book is set to come out in June 2011!
- Her first book of the series, Fallen, will soon be seen on the big screen! It will be released in 2012.
- She ends the interview by advising readers, writers, and basically everyone to “Experience as much, as wildly as you possibly can. Read as many books as you can (in many different areas as you can) and make the entire world your inspiration.”
