It's that time of the year again when it's highly recommended that we update our playlists. We give you 10 artists you should listen to this year. It's always a great time for new music, anyway, right?

  1. Ella Henderson. After finishing sixth on The X Factor UK, Ella signed with Simon Cowell's label. Her debut single "Ghost" occupied the top spot in the UK and Australia music charts when it came out. Some people even compared her to Adele after her "Ghost" came out, to which she replies, "It's the biggest compliment in the world! I'm not here to step on anybody's toes, and I'm not here to be Adele. But of course I admire her for her work … To get compared to someone like that, I could only dream of having half her success."

  2. Raury. Catching the eyes of personalities, like Lorde, Kanye West, Andre 3000, and SBTRKT, this Atlanta rapper/hip hop artist is set to conquer the world this year. Oh and did we mention Raury is only 18 and has already made his debut project, Indigo Child, already? *slow claps*

  3. Ryn Weaver. After her debut song "OctaHate" came out, the Internet was obsessed. For her catchy first track, Ryn worked with producers Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos, and co-writer Charli XCX. You can listen to her EP, Promises, via SoundCloud in case you want more of her (we're pretty sure you do!).

  4. Bea Miller. At a young age, Bea has already accomplished a lot. Her voice was used for Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Toy Story 3 and she's also opened for Demi Lovato for a tour. This girl will go places!

  5. Hozier. After performing for the Victoria's Secret fashion show this year, Hozier will surely be making a lot of music headlines this year. For one, he's already booked for a massive UK tour this summer and who knows, maybe a world tour is already in the works.

  6. Rae Morris. With a vibe you can easily associate with Ellie Goulding and Florence and the Machine, this English singer with a powerful voice will effortlessly occupy a spot in your hearts. Mark your calendars because she's set to release her debut album, Unguarded, on the 26th.

  7. Shamir. Shamir's charm lies on the fact that he seems to not care what you think of his boastful lyrics or the way he sings them like, duh, he really has no time to care. Hit the play button below and you'd know what we're talking about.

  8. Wolf Alice. Need a new twist on your playlists? Wolf Alice's sweet kind of grunge will give you that this year. Try listening to "Moaning Lisa Smile" and pay attention to its bittersweet lyrics, just perfect for days when you need moody music that's not too moody.

  9. Shura. Her inspiring track, "Touch," made news in the past year and there's definitely no stopping this British singer from making more music this year that will send you lying in bed while hugging your pillows made of all your ~*feelings*~.

  10. Lapsley. Would you believe that this deeply haunting voice (not to mention all the emotions in this song!) comes from an 18-year-old? This Liverpool-based artist will be your go-to singer to play whenever you're feeling a bit moody this year.
