All about: TEENTALK AVATAR (Standard size: 75 x 75 pixels)

from this day on, all avatar problems shall be placed here. any other threads about avatars will be locked.

1. Prepare an image. The avatar must be 75x75 max or less. To know the dimension, right click on the avatar and choose properties and the image's properties will show up with the address, size and dimensions. The dimension should be 75x75 pixels or less, or else it won't show up.

(in order to resize an image, you need an image editor like photoshop and paint shop pro. all of them are shareware but if you don't wanna spend money for those softwares, you can download a free image editor called Photoplus 6.)

2. Sign up in photobucket. if you already have an account, you may skip this step. The registration is pretty simple, it's as easy as registering in yahoo mail.

3. Log-in in your account with your username and password as you have provided when you registered with photobucket.

4. Upload the avatar and if the uploading's successful, photobucket will provide you with the URL, HTML code and the BBcode. copy the url (highlight the url - right click - select copy)

5. go to your teentalk profile and click on Forum Profile Information from the side menu.

6. click on I have my Own Pic and enter the url in the regular box or simply paste the url (right click - paste)

7. click the change profile button

it happened to me before due to the fact that it doesn't allow hotlinking. try uploading it here. and make sure it's 75x5 px or less.

i placed the url of my pic at 'i have my own pic' in my profile, when i save the changes, walang lumalabas na pic but an 'X' there.. help??

this had been discussed for so many times and unfortunately, the link i gave in my first post was already deleted so here we go *again*, it's just a little overview though

anyway, first, you need an image editor and a gif animator

examples:
image editor                                                         gif animator
adobe photoshop             comes with                  adobe image ready
jasc paint shop pro           comes with                  jasc animation shop

these softwares are shareware meaning they aren't free and you have to buy them somewhere or download a free trial which usually lasts for about 30 days or so...there are free ones that you can download in the net, search for a gif animator in downloads.com or search in search engines.

now, how to make them, actually, you can't just ask like how to make them without specifying what software you actually used since different softwares have different functions. the best you can do is try to find a tutorial on the net, search in search engines like google, yahoo etc.

also remember that it takes time to learn it, may be weeks, or months or even a year if you're not willing to learn enough. there's no step by step tutorial, members here can provide you with a concept though but not a step by step tut.

nope, you can use any image host, or any host as long as it provides hotlinking. you can also try out http://imageshack.us or any other but never upload them to hosts that doesn't allow hotlinking like geocities, tripod, angelfire etc... i dunno about freewebs though, i think they don't allow it but i'm not really sure.

i did the way copy and paste the URL from photobucket to I HAVE MY OWN PIC..but nothings happen it only shows up X.. y? i'm sick of it na..

make sure it's already in 75x75px or less, if it still doesn't work, please post the url in this thread so that we can sort it out.

possible reasons:
- the image host where you uploaded the image requires a GD, i think teentalk doesn't have it. (try to upload it in photobucket)
- it doesn't allow hotlinking (again.. try to upload it in photobucket)
- the avatar should be 75x75 max

if problem still persist, please post the url here and i'll try to see if it needs resizing or uploading it in another image host.
