Chapter 9: ALL HELL BREAK LOOSE Maganda ang araw ko ngayon. Hindi ko alam kung bakit eh. Basta ang alam ko maganda ang araw ko at energetic ako pumasok.
Bumangon na ako at dumiretso sa kusina. Alam ko naman paano magluto kaya napagdesisyunan ko na ako na ang magluto ng breakfast namin ni Kate.
Nagluto lang ako ng pancake and bacon for breakfast. Malapit na ako matapos ng gumising si Kate.
"Good morning girl!"
"Good morning. Anyare?"
"Anong anyare?"
"Bakit good mood ka?"
Tinignan ko siya then nagsmile ako sa kanya.
"That... that smile. Anong meron ha Sheena?"
"Nothing. You know what... I just realized today... that I am ready and excited to be a Mom to this little chap."
Ngumiti lang sa akin si Kate then she hugged me suddenly.
"You know I'm happy for you, right? And I'll be here whatever happens."
"I know."
Kumain na kami ng breakfast namin since mga 9 kailangan nasa office na kami. Naalala ko naman na may kailangan pala akong sabihin kay Kate.
"Ahm.. I've made a decision two nights ago."
"Pray tell what is it?"
"I've decided na... aalis na ako dito sa condo pag nag-five months na ako."
"WHAT?! Bakit naman? Sheena, okay lang naman sa akin na may bata dito. And... 2 months na lang mag-five months ka na. Saan ka naman titra if ever?"
"I know, welcome kami dito... pero syempre I want to live on my own. I wanna start fresh and... gusto ko maging Mommy sa batang to na may sarili na akong bahay. I'll look for a house tomorrow after my check up."
"With... him?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. If that's what you want. Just give me your address if you find any and your phone number."
"Sure!"
After eating our breakfast, we went directly in our office. Alam na nung mga co-editors ko and sa buong office yung tungkol sa akin. Yung iba, happy sa akin yung iba naman o well... they have their own opinion and I cared less about it. I'm happy and no one could change that.
After lunch sabay kami umakyat sa office ni Kate after eating sa isang restaurant malapit sa office. Pag upo ko sa office ko, lumapit naman yung assistant ko sa akin.
"Ma'am Sheena, someone wants to see you."
"What time?"
"Actually Ma'am... ngayon na daw po."
"May appointment ba?"
"Wala naman Ma'am. Pero sobrang sungit kasi. She said she wants to have a private talk with you."
Sino naman kaya yun? Wala naman akong kilala na pupunta sa office ng ganitong araw at oras at masungit pa.
"Sige papasukin mo na."
After ilang minutes, pumasok na rin yung bisita ko.
Tinignan ko lang siya and tumingin siya sa akin.
"So, you're Sheena?"
"Yes. What can I do for you?"
Umupo lang siya dun sa may couch sa may office.
I wonder kung sino siya. Unang beses ko pa lang siya nakita and hindi ko na siya magustuhan.
"I'm Cass."
So? Ano naman?
"Cass, what can I do for you?"
"I'm Jasper's girlfriend by the way."
Hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko sa sinabi niya. I felt like my tongue has been tied. I feel sweat at the back of my neck and my throat has been dried.
"Ah.. hi."
"So... you're Sheena. I've heard so many things about you."
From Jasper, I guess?
"So, you're saying?"
"Nothing, I just wanna see you. You know, meet the one who's trying to steal MY boyfriend by telling him that YOU ARE PREGNANT WITH HIS CHILD? How pathetic!"
Hindi ko na mapigilan yung sarili ko. Alam kong nasa office ako, pero hindi ko na talaga mapigilan ang sarili ko.
"For your information. Casey?"
"It's Cass."
Nakita ko naman na nainis siya sa ginawa ko. HA! Ako pa talaga ang aawayin niya ha?!
"Sorry, I've heard Jasper saying Casey.. so anyway.. I'm not being pathetic since what I have said is ALL true. Besides, Jasper didn't think that this little chap is pathetic. Actually, he's very excited about this and happy at all. I never intend to tell it to Jasper. He just knew about this, from whom.. I don't know and I don't care. I'm happy that Jasper's also happy and accepted this little one inside me. I don't care what you think or do. Or whatever you and Jasper do, as long as it doesn't concern me and my baby. My parents taught me to respect others and I would really appreciate it if you leave. I have other things to attend to and they are MORE important than talking to you. So if you already composed yourself, the door is here and you may leave. NOW!"
I smiled sweetly at her. I called Gail, my assitant and tell her to accompany Cass outside my office and my department.
She didn't say any single word. She left with a menacing look towrads me.
I slumped my shoulders. Feeling ko napagod ako sa nangyari kanina. That girl. Siya ang girlfriend ni Jasper. No wonder actually. Maganda siya, sexy, sophisticated, may fashion sense, mayaman... wala ng mahihingi pa ang lalake sa kanya.
Samantalang ako....
"Sheena?"
"Kate?"
"Anong nangyari? Sino yun?"
"Yun yung girlfriend ni Jasper."
She looked at me with wide eyes.
"That girl? No wonder!"
See? I told you. Everyone would believe it.
"Then now, tell me why are you sad?"
Ako? Parang hindi naman..
"Hindi ah."
"O, please! Sheena! Sa akin ka pa magsisinungaling ha? I know you so well!"
"I'm not sad. I'm just tired."
"Whatever you say, girl. Listen. Wag mo na lang pansinin yun. Mas maganda ka, mas educated and di hamak naman na mas mabait ka. You deserve every respect people give to you."
"I don't think so."
"Yes you are. Alam mo, papatayin ko na talaga yang si Jasper eh! Ugh!!!! Ang kapal ng mukha niya!"
"Wala naman siya kasalanan eh. Ginusto namin ito."
"I know! Pero ugh! Hahanap na lang siya ng girlfriend eh yung ganung tao pa! Nakakaloka!"
"Kate... you know him."
"Unfortunately."
Nung hapon na yun bago ako umuwi nag-umpisa na akong maghanap ng bahay para sa amin ng baby ko.
Pagkauwi ko ng bahay, nakita ko naman si Kate na papaalis.
"Where do you think you're going missy?"
"Ah... sa club with Josh? Wanna come?"
"What do you think?"
"Sheena! Live a life! 3 months ka pa lang naman and... di pa ganun kahalata. Tayong tatlo lang naman nila Josh. Josh knows your situation and kami bahala sayo. Don't worry."
Nag-isip ako... tama naman siya. I need to live a life. Pagdating ng five months ko... mahihirapan na ako.
"Okay, but no liquors!"
"Absolutely! I wouldn't kill my favorite godson/goddaughter!"
Pumasok ako ng room ko then nagpalit ako ng jeans and shirt. medyo masikip na yung jeans ko pero di pa naman ganun kataba. Tama si Kate. Kailangan sulitin ko to hangga't pwede pa. Magiging maingat naman ako.
Bumaba na ako ng room then sabay na kami ni Kate pumunta dun. Dinala ko na lang yung car ko para pag gusto ko na umuwi, mauuna na ako sa kanila ni Josh.
Pagpasok namin sa club, madami ng tao. Buti na lang at nakapag-pareserve si Josh ng table. Dumiretso na kami dun ni Kate. Uminom sila ni Josh at sa akin naman mango juice.
Sometimes naiinggit ako kay Kate dahil carefree lang siya sa buhay. Pwede pa niyang gawin lahat ng gusto niyang gawin samantalang ako, eto nakatali na sa baby ko. Pero hindi ko naman pinagsisisihan yun. Actually, I consider my little chap as a blessing in disguise. Hindi pa siya lumalabas pero feeling ko, love na love ko na siya.
"Sheena!!! Sasayaw lang kami ni Josh ha?"
"Sure! Enjoy!"
Pinanood ko lang sila ni Josh sa dance floor. ang saya-saya nila. Nung naubos na yung juice ko, umalis ako dun sa table tapos umorder ako.
"One mango juice please?"
"Yes ma'am."
Binigay na sa akin nung bartender yung juice ko. Pero bago pa ako umalis, may kumausap sa akin na lalaki.
"May I order you a drink?"
Lame. Super lame. Hindi naman obvious na naka-order na ako. Tinignan ko yung lalake. Kasing-age ko lang siya and kung ordinary girl lang ako, siguro naglalaway na ako sa kanya since super handsome niya. And I mean... SUPER!
"No thanks!"
"I'm Carl. You are?"
"Sheena. Nice meeting you."
Inabot ko yung hand niya para makipag-shake hands. Medyo matagal yung paghawak niya sa kamay ko and nung akmang ikikiss niya yung hand ko, may pumigil sa kanya.
"I think this lady needs her hand, NOW!"
