Best makeup for beginners?
« on: August 10, 2011, 11:17:36 pm »
So I know that hindi lahat ng products hiyang sa ating lahat, pero I just want to know what products can you recommend and where to buy them for makeup beginners like me.

I'm already 20 and still, I don't own a full makeup kit. LOL. Meron lang ako nung foundation/bb cream and that's it. Walang blush on, lipstick, eyeshadows, eyeliners and all.

Anong specific products marerecommend niyo na mura lang pero hindi kayo nag-break out? Sana din yung nabibili lang sa mga malls para madaling hanapin. :)

Gusto ko sana malaman anong magandang primer, base, foundation, eyeshadow, lipstick, blush on, concealer, and all. :) I've watched tutorials and was dumbfounded to know na talagang wala akong kaalam-alam sa makeup.

Also, I have pimple scars kase and occasional pimples, so I really need a good foundation/base/concealer. I'm fair-skinned.

Hope po may magreply sa thread na ito, I'm really desperate to know ano-ano mga kailangan since kailangan sa work ang naka-makeup though hindi naman full makeup talaga. :)

Best make up for beginners?

Depending on the budget some would invest on high end or the cheap ones first.

Try looking a powder foundation you like first on a cheaper brand.  Test it first by going to the counter try it on then leave it for about a few hours. This is just to determine kung anong shade ang para sa yo. and if the product oxidizes on you.  Pag okay na ang shade then time to buy one.

Then next stop is Mascara, eyeshadows, blushes and so on and so forth.

For brushes di naman kailangan agad  expensive. Try the TFS brushes they are really good make up application for beginners. They pick up pigments easily and they are soft to the touch.

My all time advise. Practice ,  Practice paractice  as it  makes  your make up application perfect sister. So pag wala kang magawa isang weekend. try blending and applying.

Watching make up tutorials on your tube gives you a lot of ideas too paano mag blending, crimp and all,

hope this one helps.  :)

wait i'll make a list for me which might help..
* if you're gonna raid my bag.. the only ones i have are loose powder and lip balm, LOL..
* i can save up to 500 weekly.. meaning i think i can buy make-up stuffs not exceeding that range..
* i've been watching youtube tutorials for years na ata, i bought a liquid eyeliner before to try it on myself, but fail..
* i can do nail arts on myself but i can't even put on a lipstick.. im too afraid i guess.. i haven't tried honestly, i always have my cousins to do it for me..

am i helpless??  :-[
i think i am..  :-\
I myself,
I my imperfections..

lol, maybe because we're starting to feel that we're not teenagers anymore.. like we wanna move to the next level? hahah, ewan.. basta gusto ko talaga matuto.. but im kinda hesitant kasi i do get pimples every now and then kapag may period ako.. i know there are make-ups which doesn't affects pimples, pero scared pa din hahah.. kailangan ko ata ng moral support for this one..  ;D

hahaha gnaun ata talaga mga sis.

Me I started late na rin sa make up  2006 lang ako natuto but with the help of some girls din na nakilala ko sa forums.

zhEirA, try mo kaya buy nung lip and tint ng body shop. It's really helpful. It could be your blush and lip tint at the same time.  I think thats only 950 pesos.

how to use? Dab a little of the tint on your cheeks tapos pat pat pat  around the cheeks' apple area. pag di ka pa happy add ka lang. Then pwede ka na mag powder.  the tint will last you a whole day kung di ka naman gaano oily.

For the lips naman dab a little then  ikalat mo lang using your fingers.

comb your eyebrows para malinis tignan.  Then put a little mascara.  Ayan na!  Simply made up ka na.  ;)

Watch tutorials in youtube...dyan lang din ako natuto. dati talagang hindi ako marunong magmakeup at feeling I dont have to wear makeup kaya hindi ko kinarir pagaralan pero kailangan pala talaga once pumasok ka nasa society at magwowork na. ayun nga youtube and practice it on your face kailangan mamaster mo muna face mo before you can do it to others

goodluck mga sis

i'm 21 and i love make-up! i even do it for free for friends! i enjoy it! what i can advise is invest in powders/ foundations and the rest you can buy the cheap ones.

i recommend Revlon Photoready line! i use Revlon Photoready liquid foundation and Revlon Photoready powder. it is not so cheap but it blends perfectly! best that i've ever tried! it is like the lighter version of Mac Studio Fix and what i love about it is that it looks airbrushed! :) the liquid foundation costs around a thousand bucks and the powder costs around a thousand bucks as well. you definitely get the best deal out of your money.

as for eyeliner, i recommend Nichido's black kohl pencil eyeliner! it works like Mac's Kohl eyeliner. Nichido's black kohl pencil eyeliner is around 180 pesos only!

for lipsticks, Maybelline has great shades and only costs around 300 pesos. if you want bolder shades, get Mac. :) they cost around a thousand bucks.

if you have any questions, you can pm me. :)

My suggestion is to start slow but my best advise would be to be indulgent in skincare. No amount of makeup can hide bad skin. Yes you can cover the dark spots but the texture will always be visible. If you have good skin then minimal or no foundation will be required. You can concentrate more on the other parts of your face. Since you're young & probably have good skin you might want to start on the ff:

1) have your brows groomed. thin brows are a thing of the past. if you have patchy brows then I would reco a brow pencil and matte light brown eyeshadow. set with clear browgel.

2) have your eyelashes permed professionally, saves you time of curling them every time you go out.

3) cheek stains, cream blush provide more natural flushed look.

And please do remember that makeup does not need to be high end or expensive always. I agree with littleblackdress, local & drugstore brands really are worth it. especially with mascaras since you need to toss them out every 3 months to avoid eye infections.

i have a question..

are all make-up, i mean including those cheap ones.. are they hypo-allergenic or non-comedogenic? like won't they harm my skin if i do have pimples? coz if they do, i really really wont mind spending for non-comedogenic make-ups..

and if anyone knows what brands are offering non-comedogenic make-ups, it would be really nice to know.  :)

not all make-up are non-comedogenic.. there are china products that can irritate your skin, but not all china made make-up can be harmful.
If you wanna make sure of the make-up's quality, go for Revlon or Shu Uemura..even MAC can do, but those can be pricey, although worth it.
Local brands like Ever Bilena can be a good choice, although if youre going for local brands, keep track of its expiration date.. it can be disastrous when used beyond its expiration dates.
Careline- personally, i dont like careline foundation,..mejo cakey sa face, haha! depends lang siguro sa skin type.
For concealer, i love EverBilena's mousse concealer. ;D
Wanna get whiter evenly and permanently?wanna get slim?better skin and hair?

For make-up base, try ELF Mineral primer. Invest in skincare too. Cleanser, moisturize, and toner. :) For foundations try Max Factor, I'm not sure about revlon though. If for daily wear, invest in a good tinted moisturizer. Like Laura Maurcier :)

Hi!, thanks sa suggestion.. I think i really like this one since it sounds easy to do/use, LOL.. btw.. is this lip/cheek tint safe to use if i do have pimples?

for others.. i know, i know, my questions are redundant.. im sorry, this one is kinda important for me to know.. i wanna know how to put on make-up but i dont wanna sacrifice my skin just because i do get pimples at times.

i would agree with plumpista! just purchased ELF's mineral primer and i'm very much in love with it! it  is so smooth and my make-up really lasted longer!

zheira- i really enjoy doing it and i don't mind sharing my make-up. :) we can be friends!

oh and the thing with lipsticks is you really have to find what suits your skin tone and of course your natural lip color. every lipstick works differently to every person. if you want to be safe, nude and red always work with every skin tone. corals are good for tan skinned while pink works for fair skinned.
