Books Vs. E-books
« on: May 09, 2011, 07:40:02 pm »
I've always loved the smell of books and how it feels when you read them. I'm such a dorky bookworm that I'm not so much in favor of the idea of using E-books. Haha! I guess you can say I like it the Old-school way. What do you guys think? /:)

I prefer real books over ebooks too. I love the way they feel.

But unfortunately, I can't afford to buy books all the time so I usually just read ebooks since I don't have to spend a lot. I wish I could buy all the books I want though!

Edit:
Now the books I buy are those I really love, such as the Hunger Games trilogy and I'm thinking on buying Percy Jackson as well.

In a battle of Real Books VS E-Books

I would go for the Real Books :). The real books are the physical copies you can touch and love and actually enjoy carrying around. They also look real nice when you have them in a bookshelf.
Kirby, your a genre nut. What's your favorite scary movie? Bambi.

The thing you shouldn't forget about in remakes is: Don't fck with the original.

I'm somewhere in the middle.  I have both physical books and an e-reader.

Don't get me wrong, I still buy books.  But it's not like before when I buy books regardless of whether I really like it or not.  Now, I only buy physical copies if (1) it is a series I collect - Harry Potter, LOTR, Southern Vampire Mysteries; (2) I REALLY love the book - "Generation Kill" and "One Bullet Away" and "Jane Eyre"; (3) It's for SUPER cheap - Amazon.com has awesome $0.01 deals.

With ebooks and reading via an ereader, I miss the feeling of being able to flip through the remaining pages and seeing your progress.  I makes me all excited when I feel that the unread pages are getting thinner and thinner.  But what I don't miss with physical books is the bulk.  With my B&N Nook ereader, I technically tote around 30+ books easy.
RAGE and LOVE.

I personally prefer real books to e-books because I really hate staring at the monitor reading for hours. It usually gives me sharp headaches afterwards.

But I still frequently download e-books, especially when I want to check the book's contents first before buying it in the bookstore. ;D

I usually peruse bookstores to check out which ebooks to get.  XD  LOL, yeah I'm a cheat.

Pero yah before getting an e-reader, hindi ako madalas magbasa ng ebook.

Of course i would love to have the real ones. I will be more than happy to have them all.  :)

The only problem is... i don't have enough money to buy all the books i would like to read (for new books, it usually costs Php300 each). Which is why i bought an ebook reader. Now i only buy my absolute favorites. Saves me from having a break down because of some overly disappointing books. Plus i can always bring it with me anywhere i go.   ;)

I prefer the Real Book, although using E-book saves you a lot of money. I like Real Book because nothing beats the feeling of flipping the pages of the book at saka yung story nasa kamay mo mismo.  ;D

I just use E-books if I really don't have money, tagtipid kumabaga.  ;D

I'd prefer the REAL books because of their feel, the naturey smell of the pages, the pleasure flippin' it, and you won't waste electrical energy and it's not harmful to the eyes.  ;)

^^ Ate, ang hirap basahin ng font color mo.

----

Only downside to ebooks is that if you meet the author, you can't have your copy signed.  Just like what happened to me this afternoon.  I attended a reading of "Room: A Novel" by Emma Donoghue but because I only have an ebook, I had nothing for her to sign.

I prefer  e-books because its easier to lug around (and because you can get ebooks for free although unauthorized distribution of ebooks is illegal and can kill the book industry.)

But visually, books look good lined on a bookshelf and it just feels so good to see your collection growing. :P
