Chapter 5: Hear Our Call, Brye
“Oh, anong problema mo, you look sick.” Her kuya Sheldon noticed.
Are you sick?” “Don’t worry about me kuya, I’m fine. Napagod lang po ako. Wala kang pasok, bakit nandito ka pa?” “Pinakuha ni papa etong mga papeles.” He answered showing her a thick folder.
“Nga pala, your professor called a while ago.
“Opo. Ang sweet naman ng baby girl ko.” She pouted,
“I’m not a baby anymore.” But he just laughs at her, and waved goodbye. For a moment there she forgot her problems, but now that she is alone, everything come running back to her like a flood that is trying to drown her. Like a wind that is trying to suffocate her. She runs to her room before anyone could see the sadness in her face, and before could anyone ask why.
She walks toward her bed and sit. She took the pregnancy test from her bag, and gaze at it hoping that if she looked at it real hard the result would change. After a moment she stands up and walks to her cabinet; above it is a photo of her and Brye. She took it and retuned to the bed.
She touched Brye’s face,
“what did I do to deserve this Brye? All I ever did was love you, masama ba yun?”She tried so hard to keep herself from crying. She wanted to be strong for herself and for this baby, and only weak people cry.
“I need you right now Brye. She said talking to Brye’s picture as if she’s talking to the real one. Even how hard she tried to pretend na matatag siya, a crybaby would always stay a crybaby. And so tears started falling on Brye’s picture. She put it above her stomach and said,
“Kung ayaw mo kong pakinggan, please listen to your child. She was on that state when so fall asleep.
She woke up at 6:45 pm. She yawned and looked at the clock.
“Hala grabe, nakatulog pala ako.” She took her phone and checked it for any messages. There was one and it was from Laila.
“When you welcome your emotions as teachers, every emotion brings good news, even the ones that are painful.”
So ayn frend, wg k mwln ng pgasa. Alwys be optmstc. God hs a plan 4 u, trst hm. Hey dn’t frgt 2 make an appointment wth ur dctr ok? Msyd k p nmn mkklmtin
She smiled at Laila’s message. She dialed her doctors number and wait for the answer.
“Hello, Sanisha?” “Doc. Hernandez? Yeah it’s me Sanisha. I would want an appointment with you tomorrow, mga 7 in the morning. May pasok po kasi ako ng 9 eh.” “Sure hija, may problema ba?” “Bukas ko nalang po ipapaliwanag. Sige po, Bye.” “Ok, bye.” After she ended her call she decided to leave Laila a message.
“I hve mde my appoinmnt na. Lai, I’m scared. Natatakot ako kc bka mlmn nla papa. Pero nla2ksan ko ung loob ko. Lai I miz u n tlga. Wg k n rply. Bba n me eh.”
She left her room, and went downstairs. Sa sala she saw her mom watching TV. She walks toward her and give her a kiss on the cheeks.
At the age of 58, she could still pass as a model. Her mom was a very beautiful woman, but like her she has never learned how to be tough. Her mom believes that a wife should stay in the house to take care of the children. Hindi naman sa under ang mama niya ng kanyang papa, because her papa loves her mom so much. She always envies her parents. She has always dream of finding a man like her dad, she had always thought it was Brye.
“Why the sad face?” her mom noticed
“Wala po, iniisip ko lang. . Yun bang . . . tatanda akong kasama siya.” Her mom sits next to her, and touch her face.
Just be patient and wait for him. Ok?” Sanisha nodded.
