blame the accent. haha. more often than not it's a matter of where you live.

First of all, English is our second language. I'm pretty sure that most "mispronounced words", if that's what you call it, are said by older people. Mas mahirap matuto ang mga taong older kesa sa kids who started learning English when they're very young. You know a kid can learn any language as easy as 1-2-3 til they're 7 years old. I don't wanna call it "mispronounced" coz what's causing that is the accent. Anybody who's learning a new language would have an accent, that's a fact. You can learn any language but the most difficult part is SPEAKING. Of course, nasanay na sila na sariling language nila ang ginagamit about 90% of the time so trying to speak a foreign language is like going back to zero. Iba na ang tunog ng letter, iba na ang paggamit ng tongue, lips, etc. I migrated to US when I was a little kid but my parents made sure I speak Filipino fluently. When I talk, people wouldn't think English is my second language but I do admit I get some letters mixed up sometimes; if only being bilingual was as easy as turning a light switch on and off.

What I don't get sometimes is... we criticize our fellowmen of mispronouncing words but if it's a Chinese, Japanese, Hispanic, Russian, Middle Eastern who doesn't pronounce the words right, it's acceptable? Aren't we just like them? Pare-pareho lang tayong second language ang English so why make a big deal about mispronouncing words from a foreign language? Just my thoughts.

Singaporeans primary language is English but they speak worst than a Filipino high school student. Pero it's no big deal. They were able to deal with Americans, British, Australian ng normal at hindi conscious sa accent nila.

For me, as long as naiintindihan ka ng kausap mo hindi dapat gawing big deal lalo na ang pagtawanan ang mispronunciation. (maliban na lang if call center agent ka na america ang hawak na account). Mas importante ang laman ng sinasabi mo kesa sa pronunciation mo.

Nakakita na ba kayo ng foreigner na nagtawa sa isang Filipino taxi driver who pronounce depot (depo) as DEPOT? I don't think they even bother to laugh at the mispronunciation. My thoughts as well.
