"Better than the RH bill" by Jose Sison

News today--bishop says there will be People Power if the RH bill is passed. I say, good luck to him. This will be like moving a mountain--most Filipino Catholics use some form of contraceptive. It's amusing how the Catholic Church still thinks there isn't much support for the RH bill when in reality many Filipinos already use contraceptives. One failure of Cory during the civil disobedience against Marcos was that she tried (unsuccessfully) to have people boycott San Miguel. I see the same happening here: people will simply ignore the Catholic Church on this issue.

The difference I guess between then and now is the actual motive behind that revolt. I was not yet there to know any secret details as to the instigation of that revolt. However, knowing the method of how the government was then, It is not surprising how people get fed up and become an angry mob. Not to mention people are being executed for being political threats.

This is not the case this time. Though I'll give credit to the church's actions back then, I would hope that they will not stain the original purpose that was intended for that revolution.
