Book of Memories
Book Two: Tears to New Beginning
My mom got a new job and we have no choice but to move in another city, like 100 miles away from here, which means I have to leave everything behind – the old mail box, my elementary school and above all, my beloved best friend.
“
Promise me you’ll visit me every summer or at least hang out together during the weekends!”
She gave me a tight hug, which made us both cried.
“
I have the exact same thing, lets fill this with unforgettable memories, and open it every time we see each other, so even thou were far from each other we can still have a piece of each other’s life.”
It was really hard for me to let go of things, especially those who were close to me, so I gave her a big wooden memory box with her name engraved on it.
“
Just like the old mail box we locked!”
“
Yes! Just like the old mail box.”
“
Honey it’s time to go!”
My mom called.
Finally I gave her a nice big hug, said good bye and turn away, telling myself I won’t look back, but I just can’t help myself. As the engine of the car starts, I looked on the window and called her “PLUM FACE” for the last time, she turned her back and shouted;
“
YOU CRY BABY!!! I’LL GET YOU FOR THAT, I SWEAR!!!”
It took my mom 3 days to calm me down, at least stop me from crying and convince me to eat something. She was worried that I might not even go to school. I was touched by my mother’s love, after those 3 tearful and hunger strike days, I started to put myself back together, give my new room a new look and my hair a new style, to think that it has been 10 years since I got it trimmed. Everything was good and I can’t wait to start a new life in High School.
