He likes her. I know that already. I accepted that fact since the day I saw him smile at her.

I like him. But he doesn’t know about it. I think it is better this way for things might get awkward between us if I did.

I am okay with him liking her. It’s not like they are going to be together anytime soon. I mean she is the most oblivious person I have ever met. She may not be the brightest and prettiest girl I know but she still managed to capture his heart. I almost got discouraged by that.

But then again, she is Captain Oblivious! And frankly speaking, I am prettier than her. I am confident and absolutely positive that she will never, ever discover his feelings for her.

Oblivious Girl + Torpe Guy = NO FUTURE TOGETHER!

Makes sense, right?

But boy I was wrong. I never thought this day would come, when he will be given a chance to express his feelings for her. If it wasn’t for her meddler friend, then they wouldn’t be together right now, and then I wouldn’t be this heartbroken.

All I can do now is watch her take him away from me… and pour my feelings out in my blog.

Subject: Piano Lessons
   
                     

April 7, 2010

It’s officially summer time.

I was supposed to be in the beach swimming with the friends, celebrating our high school graduation, but here I was stuck in a small… I don’t know. House, room, whatever. I don’t get the interior design of this place, which according to my mom is where my little sister will be taking her piano lessons.

Who wants to take lessons here anyway? It’s small, it’s cramped, it’s hot in here and it doesn’t look like the owner is planning to renovate this place anytime soon. I really should ask mom to bring the lessons in our house. I don’t want my sister to die of heat stroke.

I truly believe that mom has never seen this place. If she did, she wouldn’t let her daughters step foot in this shabby room.  I bet the instructor is an old, gray-bearded man who looks like he hasn’t been eating for days. Or maybe a bald, fat man with his stomach bulging clearly from his white shirt.

I think it’s the latter, because most pianists are rich. I don’t think a bulimic man can play a piano. But then again, this place is miserable.

After moments of waiting, I heard running foot steps coming from the outside. I saw a tall, guy panting at the doorway. He is lean and tanned. His hair is a bit wet because of sweat. He looked at us and walks our way. He smiled sheepishly while scratching his head.

He apologized for being late, something about school he said. He told us he would freshen up first before proceeding to the lesson. I got confused and asked him if he is the person who will teach my sister.

He said yes then walks away. I didn’t take his answer seriously though. I mean, he doesn’t look like he can play the piano at all. He looks more like a sporty guy to me. And if he can play the piano, I don’t think he will be a good teacher.

I was this close of getting out that door but my sister looked really excited. Well, she was looking forward to this for months now. I would hate to disappoint her. So I decided to give the guy a chance, for my sister’s sake.

For an hour I watched them press keys on the piano with him explaining what those are and lots of other stuff that I didn’t bother to listen to. I don’t even know where that square piano came from. It wasn’t here when we arrived.  I was texting one moment and the next thing I know, he was sitting on the rectangular piano stool and arranging the papers on that thingy where a pianist places his musical scores.

I was just glad it’s finally over. I can’t take the heat anymore, not to mention the boredom. I got up from my seat and took my sister’s hand.

Then I heard him spoke, Medyo boring talaga sa simula, pero habang tumatagal mag-eenjoy ka ring manood samin. Lalo na kapag marunong nang tumugtog yang kapatid mo kahit isang kanta lang.

He must have seen me yawning, which I did a lot today. I just smiled and thanked him for the lessons.

I look back at him as I hail a ride. He smiled at me then waved goodbye. As I get on the tricycle I realized, he is kinda cute.
