CHASE
"Hey mom. What's so urgent?" I asked as I gave Mrs. Lilian Kaulitz a peck on the cheek. She was looking stunning as ever if it wasn't for the fact that she's looking very gloomy. She closed the magazine she was flipping over earlier.
"Well, I've got something to tell you dear." she breathed heavily as she forced a fake smile.
I remained silent. My heart thumping hard against my chest. I think I knew what this is all about.
"You knew that our business is going from bad to worse, didn't you?" she started. Her lips trembling as she spoke. I knew how my parents worked for our company. I knew this is breaking her heart. She loves the company so much, she would do everything to save it.
"A company owned by your Dad's college friend was offering to lend our company more than the money we need to save it." she stated.
"Wow, dad is one lucky man! Must be good!" I exclaimed. But mom's expression didn't change. Her dark-green eyes reflected sadness.
"Yes, but in return, they want you to marry their only daughter. Their only heiress." she said, biting her lowing lip.
"Mom! You knew I couldn't do that! I have a girlfriend! I have Vanessa! Why don't we seek for other options?" I asked, totally flabbergasted. If there is one thing I hate most in this world, that is, marrying someone just to save another person's life. Charitable as it may seem, but everybody doesn't want to be forced into something we weren't sure. Something sacred. Something too risky to try.
"I told your dad that you wouldn't possibly agree on this arranged marriage thing but.. he had the contract signed. Money doesn't come this easy dear, I'm sorry."
I looked at my mom. I knew she was sorry judging my the way she looked at me.
I slowly made my way upstairs to my bedroom. Tears streaming freely down my face. How on earth could I tell Vanessa about this? How?
LANCE
"What do you think about arranged marriages, honey?" my mom asked, dipping a finger on the custard cream she was about to put inside the chocolate cake she was baking. Kirsten, our kitty walked into the kitchen and purred hungrily. I held her up and stroke her.
"Kitty Kirsten is one glutton cat!" mom exclaimed in between giggled. Kirsten purred as if to say "you're right!"
"Mom, are you setting me up again?" i asked her as I took a spoonful of vanilla icecream.
My mom hates his son, namely me, Lance, being single. Says she was excited to meet her future daughter in law. Isn't it a bit too early?
"Kind of." she chuckled.
"Who is it this time?" i asked, looking at my mom with great disbelief. Imagine a mother setting his fifteen year old son on blind dates whenever she got the chance. Unbelievable. I was often amazed by this woman right onto the kitchen counter.
"Just promise not to set me up on a fcukface brunette that sucks you-know-what." I told her, remembering the last time she set me up with this brunette who looked like an overfed vulture. Disaster striked when the latter took me on a cheap, gross motel and gave me a motherfcuking sh!t. She turned out to be a prostitute. My mom laughed her head off the moment I told her about it.
"But admit it honey, you enjoyed her!!" she exclaimed as she placed a little cherry atop the cake.
"Yeah, well she's pretty good only if it weren't for her saggy breasts! They turned me off!"
My mom gave another hearty laugh. I stroked Kirsten which kept throwing me a disgusting look and purring hungrily.
"Just get me a decent one mom. Okay?"
