Cassandra Clare, darling. <3
But honestly? Stephanie's name should be erased from the cover. It makes me sick.

^ i guess they did it because meyer's name is appealing to every twilight-crazy fangirl. that's a good strategy to keep the sales up. :D

Exactly my point. Marketing strategy or not, MI is... a work of genius lit.
Twilight is... well, no offense to the fans at all, I used to be one, not well thought of. The plot is repetitive for each book (Bella gets in to fck'd up situations, Edward goes save her, yadayadayada) annnnnd. Grammar. Yeah. That's it. The grammar.

Like I said, no offense. ;-;

Haha, I liked Twilight, and I can see why other people like it as well, but it's just so. Darn. REPETITIVE.  >:( Not to mention Stephenie copied off Wuthering Heights and a couple of Shakespeare plays in an attempt to seem deep or smart or whatever. Anyway, it's nothing to obsess about is all I'm saying.

... Right. This isn't a Twilight hate forum. :) And now SM benefited from MI again. Sneaky. -_-

So, reason why MI is better than Twilight:
-Jace is more real than both Edward and Jacob, because he has actual flaws and not the endearing kind.
-the plot is more complex.
-Clary is not a shame to feminists around the world for being pathetic and whiny, etc. Cough, Bella, cough.

and... Clary can draw. Bella has no apparent talent whatsoever. :) I am sooo sour.

^ you are not alone. i really liked twilight way back, but that's because i haven't been reading that much. lack of reference, really. and i think i was still full of raging hormones back then. i was just 15. :D

okay, enough about twilight. ;D

the characters in The Mortal Instruments have much more personality. And it keeps the story a lot more interesting to read. :)

^ ditto. I love Jace and Clary! and the whole tattooing the runes thing is so cool. I'm also intrigued with the idea of angels and devils and the Downworlders. I <3 CoG. It was absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for CoFA.

Say, are they planning to turn the series into a movie? I mean, if cheesy Twilight made it to the theaters, why can't MI? (it's so much better. LOL.)

^ i agree with lastgirlstanding, it would be a great movie :) and yeah, it has a better everything than twilight. ;D

i so love clary. she's just what i expect a heroine should be. she acts just like any other ordinary girl and yet when you know her, she ain't so ordinary.

anyways, it's awesome. lovin' this book. :)

Lol. I couldn't help but comment on this thread (even if I have been out for so long.)
I agree with all of you, Cassie Clare is truly an amazing author. Way way better than the one who wrote about the whinny girly-girl Bella. This is because she doesn't waste her time on adjectives that seem to be repetitive in an unorderly manner (unlike other people). And, the plot is astounding (enough said).

Btw, has anyone read Cassie Clare's blogs?
Cassie recommends readers of the MI to read Clockwork Angel (which will be released on August) before reading CoFA (March 2011). I believe there are some characters that will be mentioned therein which will be included in CoFA.

The first time I saw this book, I recoiled. Literally. It was because of the praise that was cited on the front cover. I really loathe that author (no offense). But I agree, it was probably for marketing purposes. Still, I couldn't accept the mere fact that her name itself spoils the opportunity for readers to discover better books.

With regards to the movie, Cassie has no confirmation about the movie yet. But the script has been submitted and she's working in tandem with the script writer. But, from what I've read, there are still a lot of processes it must undergo. Let alone the fact that there are a lot of books pending to be turned into a movie. I'm really looking forward to seeing Alex Pettyfer play Jace. I've seen a couple of Fan Arts around Deviantart. He totally looks like the Jace I've imagined.

Alex Pettyfer playing Jace. That's heaven, now isn't it? Question now is, who's playing Clary? I honestly want Emma Watson, but I'm not sure she fits the description.

I really hope Clockwork Angel gets released on August here in CDO. We're usually late when it comes to books because... well, we're not Manila. That just blows sometimes, but I learned to live with it. Besides, I enjoy seeing my top shelf, in the order, Clare - Gaiman - Riordan - Rowling - Tolkien. I wouldn't mind adding another Clare book up there. <3

Actually, the first time I saw the book, I went all, "OK, she read this? No way I'm buying it." but then when I read at teensreadtoo.com that it was a great book, I bought it anyway because TRT just happens to give amazing reviews for amazing books. And guess what? The book happened to be awesome. Mayer's name might be on it, but Clare still wrote it. That's what I thought. xD

This series made me a bookworm. Before ang alam ko lang na books ay yung mga school books saka yung mga boring novels na pinapaproject samin. Then, I found this one and it changed my perspective about books completely.

Its amazingly cool. Way better than Twilight. I like them both though.

Does anyone know any book similar to this one?

@Zivheart I guess if you're into action-y, sci-fi with lots of monsters, Percy Jackson. But it's not a romance until late in the series. I think. I didn't finish the third book. And may I ask what books you mean by "boring novels"? :P

City of Fallen Angels needs to come out. Soon. Glass was such a cliff-hanger.
