Political candidates attending church to campaign
« on: December 31, 2009, 11:21:57 pm »
I attend church every sunday ever since I was 4. And I cant help but notice that everytime campaign period opens, the political candidates start to go and make frantic campaigns and always go: Please vote for me, INSIDE THE CHURCH FOR GOD'S SAKE! And the people inside goes: Yeah! Well go vote for you! And after winning, they'll just vanish and so whatever. What do you think of it?? I need some comments. :] Thanks!
What I dont understand is, how do other people manage to pack so lightly? You see business people of the time, striding onto planes with only a tiny shoe-box suitcase on wheels. How do they do it? Do they have magic shrinking clothes?! If yes, give me!

pwede pa yun gawin nilang venue ang simbahan for caucuses or town-hall meetings etc etc kasi usually, simbahan lang naman ang nakakapag hold ng ganun kalaking tao (aside from gyms)

and so i take the issue very carefully, not very swift to condemn those who go to church to campaign nor very swift to condone them.

1. politicians can speak inside churches,

2. politicians can even stand outside the church and greet church goers after the mass,

3. politicians can sit in front of the church or in those designated areas where they can be seen by the congregation

BUT

politicians should not speak about their campaign DURING the Holy Mass, for by doing so, they are committing the sin of Sacrilege.

----

so there.

after all, there is some good in it. when a politician goes to church (whatever his intentions are), he implies that the Church is above him, and so he goes there to get support.

in the longer run, the implication is that the Sacred Institution is over and above the Secular.

I prefer things to run in that manner.

@ maniclassieblithe

As for you, obedient Catholic, if you are able to vote, put Catholic Principles and the interests of the Church above the other agenda of the politician.

if you're not yet eligible, tell your parents that.

for starters, I suggest Manny Villar.  ;D :D ;D lol joke

You're very welcome.. oh yeah, Gibo is also awesum.  ;D

Yes, yes. as a matter of fact, maraming pulitiko ang nagsisimba and very religious. hindi lang naten sila nakikita sa ating mga simbahan kase ang technique pala jan, kunwari, congressman sya, umiikot ikot sya sa mga parishes within his/her congressional district.

kaya kunwari, sa 3rd District ng Manila, si Congreswoman Zenaida Ang-See, minsan andun sya sa Quiapo, minsan andun sya sa Santa Cruz, minsan andun sya sa San Roque.  umiikot sila.

now, in the case of senators,  may mga pari na pumupunta sa Senado para mag misa, so they dont have to go out of their way (since we know theyre busy) in order to worship and receive Jesus Chrst through the Holy Eucharist.

there's also a Catholic Inquiry Thread here. If you've got more questions, never hesitate to post it.
