Chapter 1 – The First Proposal

Michael was my first boyfriend, first love, first kiss and first dance. Eventually, he became the first man who proposed to me. Kami na simula nung 3rd year high school kami. Hanggang college, kami pa rin. Hindi kami naghiwalay. Never kaming nag-away. Kung iisipin, perfect relationship na di ba? Yun din ang akala namin e. We even promised each other na I will be his first and last love and he will be my first and last love. Ang sweet di ba? Hehe.

Siguro, nacucurious kayo kung paano siya nag-propose noh? Kahit na ang sarap balik-balikan nung moment na yun, masakit pa rin pala.

Graduation namin nung college nun. Summa cum laude si Michael sa college nila. Ako naman Magna cum laude. Since kami ang nasa top ng mga college namin, we were given the chance to say our speeches. I made my speech brief but meaningful. Marami na yung na-touch sa mga sinabi ko pero mas marami palang matotouch sa sasabihin niya.

“Good evening to all the people present here today. I know this is supposed to be a speech related to graduation and studies and stuff. But I would like to take this opportunity to take a look at my experiences and our experiences in life and in love.” Naghiyawan yung mga ka-batch namin pagkasabi niya nun. Parang mga timang lang e. Pero sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam kung kikiligin ba ako o mahihiya in a good way dahil dun e.

“To start things off, I would like to acknowledge the presence of the person who became the inspiration of this speech that I’m delivering. The person who makes me realize that life isn’t that bad after all and the reason why I would like to wake every morning with a smile on my face and in my heart. Clarisse, this is for you.” Pagkasabi niya nun, ngumiti at kumindat siya sa akin. Hay. Ang haba naman ng hair ko o. Haha.

“When I first entered high school, I didn’t know what I want to happen in my life. But when I met her, every thing changed. We started out as friends and eventually loved each other more than just a friend. Our relationship stayed strong since we started way back when we were high school juniors. Nothing made us weak for problems only made our relationship stronger. I promised her that she will be my first and last love and she promised me the same thing. I don’t want to make this speech very long and so I would like to go straight to the point. Mary Clarisse Abarquez, would you like to fulfil our promise?” Ok. Lahat ng tao nakatingin na sa akin. Pero ako naman si S-L-O di pa rin ma-gets ang sinasabi ni Michael.

“Clarisse, I would say this just once but from the very bottom of my heart. Clarisse, will you marry me?”  O-M-G! Ano ba ‘to? Nananaginip ba ako? Kung panaginip ‘to sana di na ako magising.

“Clarisse! Huy! Nakatingin na lahat sa’yo. Hinihintay na ni Michael yung sagot mo.” Ok. It’s confirmed. Di ako nananaginip. Oh, wait! Mas O-M-G! Totoong nangyayari ang mga ito! Anong gagawin ko? I’m not expecting him to propose as in now na. Waa. Bro, guidance naman diyan o.

So ang ginawa ko naman ay tumayo ako sa upuan ko. Lalong tumingin sa akin ang mga tao dahil dun. Lumapit ako sa stage at umakyat. Nilapitan ko si Michael sabay sabi ng “Yes, Michael. I would love to marry you.” Pagkatapos nun, niyakap ako ni Michael at naghiyawan na ang mga tao. Pati mga professors nakisali na sa celebration.

After a while, tinapos na rin ang ceremonies sa graduation namin. Supposedly, ang family ni Michael at ang family ko may kanya-kanyang dinner na pupuntahan. Pero dahil sa pasaway kami, tumakas kaming dalawa. We went to a private place and had our own dinner. It served as a celebration for our graduation and our engagement.

Sana forever na ito. Para kasi akong nasa fairy tale e. So I’m hoping that we would reach our happy ending. Sana nga matupad namin ang promise namin sa isa’t isa.

i almost forgot. 30 mins lang break ko every after subject kaya baka hindi ako makapag online. i have to make an advance reading pa for every subject. mahirap na kasing walang alam na pumapasok sa klase eh.

basta hintayin ko nalang update mo tungkol sa akin. este kay clarisse.
