P-Pop (Philippine-Pop). Is it possible?
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:38:20 pm »
As we all know, J-pop and K-pop are gaining immense acclaim here in the Philippines. Groups such as 2ne1, SNSD, Super Junior and others are ranking #1 on Philippine hit charts.

BREAKING NEWS: Have you ever watched POP GIRLS? Yeah they're that issue-making girl group in YouTube. Accused of copying K-pop, from sound to outfits. Try and search for their song Crazy Crazy in YT. Personally, I found this very amusing because I know it will give birth to haters and it will start the flames of bashing. I love to see fights over the internet. >8D To be honest, the mv was horrible, the execution was bad and it was copying different mv's of K-pop. BUT. They are very tolerable to listen to. Their voices are good. The mv made it suck. So kudos to the director. I'd rather just listen to it than watch it.

Is this some kind of new start for the Philippine music scene? Are there other pop groups forming? Is it possible to have P-pop?

PS. Pop Girls? Very creative group name. *claps*

I thought when you said P-pop, it means bands like Hale, Spongecola, etc, will be accepted by the other countries. I would love to see that. But, using girl or boy groups, I don't think so. :)

I just listened to their song and it's not that bad after all but I must agree that the MV was horrible and unoriginal. Lol. They're only starting, let them show us more of what they got.

You know what I mean.

K-Pop inspired yung video. Agree ako dito sa lahat ng sinabi mo... yes, I'd rather just listen than watch the MV. Honestly, okay naman siya para sakin. I actually thought americans ang kumakanta, then I heard tagalog words.

Napagusapan na namin ng friend ko to, and siguro one of the reasons why di matanggap ang tagalog songs (not just P-pop!) e siguro dahil alam na alam ang meaning. I don't know if you get what I mean, pero para kasing minsan tipong pag nilatag na yung words, ayan na mismo... ang hirap i-explain, pero sana naintindihan niyo. :)

I mean, hindi ginaya sa american or japanese, or korean o anumang lahi.

i love this post from bunchcup.. and kyuwan, i get what you said..i don't know.. i'm starting to hate the kpop wannabe's.. i'm so so so sorry sa fans pero ayoko talaga sa xlr8.. siguro posible pero mas maganda kung yung original na gawa.. i agree with the others.. kaya naman sumikat yang mga yan dahil may kanya kanya silang style.. wala tayong distinct style na yung alam mng pinoy yan pag nakita mo..

If they do have that genre, Filipinos will probably end up combining a bunch of stuff from other countries and call it "original."  Sorry, I just don't think Filipinos have truly succeeded in starting something original that influences and is admired by other countries...it's generally the other way around.

first sa tingin ko yung mga pop girls can be famous here in the phillipines..sure there pretty..they have beautiful voices pero yung concept nila walang wala..yung MV palang wala na...we really have to compare our own artist with the other artist in other country kasi we really need to..we need to compare their talent the way they sing the way they dance and ofcourse the way they perform live...popgirls have nice voice in thier songs but when i saw them perform live..i'm sorry for the word but it was BAD..i really try to like them(for me to love or like the artist i have to repeat their song over and over again for me to apreciate the song and of course yung artist)..kaso di talaga eh..they don't know how to sing live lipsync, the way they dance, the way they carry their self onstage..walang wala talaga...para sakin bakit pa nila kailangan gumawa ng ibng gimmiks na ganito..i personally love hale,spongecola,PNE,kamikazee..and so much more..pinoy should stick with OPM bands and other opm acoustic and ballad artists..they need to change their concept..maybe training for a few years should do it!!!!!!!..PEACE!!
