The Shrine God's Love | IV

I. That Blank Eyes of Hers

A day before the calendar sets up Spring, another human visited my well built shrine.

Let me guess, a human who would wish for some luck crap in her boring life.

She clapped her hands twice and bowed infront of my statue. I cannot be seen by people in the first place,but I guess my stay here wasn't so bad. The people here were really nice despite of their abusive wishes. They would bring me a basket of fruits and some wine. In exchange, I promised to give good health to their crops and health. No parasitism. A God must not do so.

"Good morning, Ciel-sama"

I smiled.

'good morning to you as well'

I always replied to them despite the fact that they could never hear me.

"Here are some pears and meat for today. I hope you'll like them"

I shortened my distanced and took a peek at the basket.

'Thank you..'

Her face was new to me. I have stayed here for 50 years and this was only the first time I saw her. A new neighbor perhaps?

She sat near the red post of the shrine. She was of her teens and she had jet black hair, rosy cheeks, pink lips but her eyes seems so blank. I see no affections nor emotions within them.

"Hey, Ciel-sama..are you lonely? It seems that you have been in this place for a long time alone."

I panicked. What does she mean?

"I can see you Ciel-sama."

100% bluff! A human can never see nor hear spirits!

I sat infront of her, trying to stop myself from grinning infront of her.

'Tss.'

She looked me in the eyes as if she really saw my silhouette.

"You're quite a God aren't you?"

She laughed and laughed and laughed until she jerked a tear. I was motionless. I don't know what to do, she was the only human I've exchange a chat with.

"Let me visit you again in the late afternoon Ciel-sama. I need to be early for the new term since I'm a transferee."

She waved goodbye while laughing. But I never waved back. My eyes followed her until her shadow was gone.




Oh hallo tharr~ I'm up with a new story. It seems that this would lead to a short one. Not sure since most of the readers prefer Tagalog than English. It'll be up to the count whether this would end up as a short one. So..Please don't hate me for using the name Ciel again(for those who read Rent-a-Boyfriend can relate). Nia's back(for good?Nah.) <3

II. The Holy Chat

The Maple tree got healthier than its usual. While the wind brought from the south, carried an aroma of the rice fields.

I got up from my slumber and removed some dirt from my yukata.
(yukata - traditional form of Japanese clothing worn by Japanese)

I wandered in the streets of Hotaruji, the folk people sound so excited as they got out of the rice fields. The  sun will be dismissed earlier than expected. Another boring night will come.

I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

"Oh! Ciel-sama, You busy?"

I took a glimpse of who made the tap and saw the same human who came to the shrine this morning.

'Not really, I suppose.'

I blinked twice, seeing that she had her hair tied up in a bun and allowing a few strands to be loose. She faintly swiped them behind her ears.

'The tie looks good.' I complimented. The tie was made of real pearls. No doubt.

"Why,thank you! Nobody really notices how cute my tie is,not until now."

Her lips formed an upper curve and suddenly, she held my hand.

'W-What are you doing you filthy human?!'

"Let me escort you to your shrine your highness!"

'You don't have to.'

She chuckled.

"You God's sure are stubborn."

I sighed and tried to get a grip of my other hand, but failed. She was holding it too tightly. I hope it won't fall off.

'I can use force you know.'

"I know,so stop scaring me because I'm used to it."

I exhaled a deep one.

"Would you like to hear my story?"

Our eyes met for a second but I immediately looked away and frowned.

"Not interested?"

'I don't really care if you do.'

"Well then..Where to start..."

She loosen her grip and cleared her voice. Her eyes were looking at me but I let my eyes stayed in the same direction, of the west.

"My mother was an exorcist. She isn't any ordinary human you can think of. While my father was the guardian of South East Lakes."

I was startled. She's the daughter of the rumored fallen South East god? I never thought the rumors were true.

"They died when I was five. But before they left, my great father gave me not a memento, but a curse."

She looked at me straight in the eye and closed them for a moment. I felt the wind rushing through my skin. I felt uneasy.

"Look."

Her eyes were bleeding horribly.

'I see, so the rumors were really true..'

"My great father never accepted me as his child. Instead of saving me, he gave me the capability to see the things a normal human cannot see."

She wiped them and showed me her eyes, no white part, no pupils.

"Don't be so serious God of the Shrine Gods!"

'W-what did you just call me?!'

"Your title of course, did I mention the wrong one?"

I nodded.

'The great God of the Shrine and Sealed Gods to be exact.'

She smirked.

"Let us go to your shrine now MASTURRRRR! Let me lead the way for I have a firefly lantern!"

'Then let me follow you, interesting human.'

III. Bell of Claudette

We arrived at the shrine as soon at the sun fell. Some of the night deities were out and were having the shift with the day deities.

'Welcome back Ciel-dono,Good evening.' Bowed the East Land Deity.
(dono-attached to a name, roughly means "lord" or "master")

'Good evening to you as well, Kiya.'

"Woooah. You're such a beauty Kiya-chan!The blonde hair fits you well!!"

'Waaaa!' Kiya stumbled.

'She can see us Kiya.'

'Uguuu.. Ciel-sama, is she a threat to you?We can exterminate her if you want.'

'No!You don't have to Kiya. By the way, where are the others?'

'Oh,they were preparing for the Spring Rabbit's festival for next week.'

'Oh I see..'

I took a peek behind me, but found no traces of the human.

Strange.

Kiya accompanied me til the broad daylight showed. She was reporting the damages done of some foul souls of this land.

'We shall meet at the third night fall Kiya.'

'Understood, Ciel-dono.'

She soon faded away whilst the leaves danced with her.

'Ciel!!!!'

His name was Aurelle, the West Land Deity. Even I am a thousand years older than him, he still addresses me with the common and worse, my name alone.

I think he was of 300 years old..

'Those pesky humans! They were trying to pull off the highest mountain of the west by putting it on fire!'

Again with his complaints I see.

'What did you do?'

'I shut them down of course.'

'You can't kill them every time you go berserk Aurelle.'

'I didn't kill them this time. Divine punishment,yes.'

'That's good.'

He was able to calm himself after an hour of ranting.

This child is under my care since his parents got sealed by banned exorcists and is supervised by the lower deity since he has a hot-blooded temper.

'Celestin, would you please get us tea?'

'Yes Ciel-dono.'

Celestin is a normal fox in form. He concealed his god self from the time he destroyed the old city of the South which he took account of and is now one of my personal servants.

Aurelle seemed so tired of the night work. I brushed off some strands of his chestnut tainted hair from his eyes.

Then, the Bell of Claudette rang.

"Ciel-sama~ Masturrr. I've brought some high quality smokes."

'Thank you human.'

I started puffing some of the tobacco.

"I hate it when there are no classes to attend to."

She let out a big sigh and lied down beside Aurelle.

"And this is..?"

'Aurelle, a land deity.'

"Ohhh..He looks young Ciel-sama."

'Yes, only 307.'

We continued discussing about earthly stuffs and have come to notice some people passing by strangely looking at her.

'Aren't you worried?'

"About?"

'People's conclusion about you.'

"I don't. I've been like this for a long time."

Celestin arrived with a few cups and gave some to the human as well.

'She's staring at me Ciel-dono..I am disturbed.'

'Human,stop it.'

"HE'S SO CUUUUUUUUUUTE!!"

She started pressing her cheeks against the fox's fur.

I sighed.

'Stop harassing him.'

She stopped and looked at me with her blank eyes again.

I really feel so disturbed when I look at her, maybe it's because she's the daughter of the fallen South East God.

"I haven't told you my name right?"

The moment she stood up, the leaves of the Maple were starting to bloom.

"I'm Freyja. Named under the deity of death...

but please,don't disappear before me Ciel-sama.."

Thus, the bell of Claudette rang once again.

By the way,this story involves lot of discussions more than actions. If you find 'too-romantic-genre' type more interesting, this might bore you to death. I'm writing this for my own interest,it's up to you whether you will comment or not. I'm quite excited in writing its next update. ^3^

IV. Finding Time

I was expecting more people to come to the shrine. But got disappointed that only few came this Spring.

"Good Morning, Ciel-sama."

She looked calm as always.

'You don't have to call me with that honorific Freyja.'

She blinked twice and smiled.

"Really!? So,from today on I would be addressing you as Ciel,right?"

'Yes'

She smiled at me as if she received a grand gift from someone. Then, she started humming. I have heard this song before..I think.

"Hey,Ciel."

She started talking while looking at the Maple tree.

"Would you like to have a picnic today?"

'Picnic?'

"Never heard of it?"

'I know what it means,but..why?'

"I just thought that it was kind of boring here,wanna come?"

'Well..I have no appointments for today so I might as well come with you.'

"Then,wait for me in the bus station later at 2 PM 'kay?"

She started running away.

The time passed so fast. I was counting the minutes and seconds from the time she said we must meet at the bus station. Funny and unexpectedly, I was kind of excited.

The wind carried me towards the bus station,upon seeing her shadow I went down.

"A God must never be late you know."

I scratched the back of my neck as if I were a young man being scolded by someone older.

'Sorry'

"I was joking!So..Shall we go to Hokarujo?"

I nodded.I was lost for words.Nevertheless, I followed her.Riding a train.

She let me took the seat beside the open window.

'The wind feels good here.'

She smiled. I was aware of people strangely looking at her.

'You're weird'

"I am."

I frowned. She doesn't even care what the others may think of her talking to herself and such.

For an hour we went down,seeing a beauty of the fields I have never been to. The sky was vast. The wind kept rushing through my skin as if it was never spring.

"Here,here!I found a good spot Ciel!"

I walked down to her and sat before the covered field by her blanket.

'I've never been here'

"Seems so,is the place good?"

'Very much'

I enjoyed the spring wind. Her talks about the schools she attended to. I seriously never knew why I was so interested with her stories.

'You never get tired talking huh?'

"I was always quiet in school. Rumors were spreading here and there so I couldn't have any chances to explain.Nobody befriended me.Am I getting on your nerves?"

'No,just continue if you want to.'

She smiled again.

Her sandwiches were superb.They may look like something you can't eat but they were palatable.

'Freyja..'

'Freyja?'

She was laying down in a bed of leaf clovers, only the left side of her face was visible.

I took her head slowly in my lap.Allowing her in her deep slumber while the sun was setting and the wind was not that strong anymore.

'When I see you more closely,you look like you've been suffering all the time..'

On the side where I saw her left eye,a tear ran through her cheeks.

'If only I could have been with you during those times,Freyja.'

The fireflies danced away from the grasslands.And saw Freyja tightening her grip of my hand.

"I don't want to be alone again.."

I brushed the hair covering her left eye.Closing my eyes,I tried to be near her as possible.
