LOL, whats funny is NOBODY really knows what God is thinking, yet you see countless parades of religions coming and going claiming to know God and what God thinks is right. so who is more impertinent?

I said, nobody really knows what he was thinking about then because he didn't say why he did it. And not knowing what he was thinking about then doesn't mean we don't know God well enough to believe and love Him. Those countless parades you see are what some believers see as a way to glorify God. They are not claiming to know God because they do; the reason why they believe in God because they have experienced the touch of God in their lives. Now, I'm praying that one day He'll touch yours too. ^^

P.S. Who you say? I wonder, who is more impertinent?

So it all boils down to "Personal Experiences". I'll respect what you want to believe, but please, walk to any children's hospital in their cancer ward. Tell me how many children do you encounter there that we as a society claim to be "innocent" yet some of them will die as early as in a few months. I would like you to question God's purpose for them if they were born just to made suffer and die in a few years time. I warn you, this is a difficult question to ponder. Not everyone in this life has the same equal opportunity to live a fair life. Ask yourself the same question for those who didnt even have a choice when they got  these ailments.

It is almost certain to believe in God if that is the environment that you are raised upon. Mind you, I was raised as a catholic child as well. I have gone through the same emotions and feelings you have right now. However, once I actually used my own logic and reasoning to ponder on what we were made to believe as kids and in relation to what others believe, you'll see the inconsistency. All religions in the world say that theirs is the true one. Well either they are all right or they are all wrong. This is your choice to make a decision.

Finally, the biggest advantage religion has is the sense of community. I guess that is where you derive your personal experiences. That advantage is nullified by the fact that whether you believe in God or not, a community with the same interests will welcome you with open arms.

If we know God well enough to know what the rules are, why is it that we only pick the ones that makes sense to us OR the ones that actually abide by our own society's laws? We may have these rules all along and we just plastered a higher authority to it, which makes them unquestionable.
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books
You shall not look through my eyes either nor take things from me
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself

I think humans are born neutral but i believe we are all lazy and selfish in nature.  ;D

I believe that MAN is naturally evil. Because it's the morality and discipline and virtues that makes us a better person.

I think man is naturally born good. Nanggulo kasi ang demonyo kaya tayo medyo nabahiran ng konting kasamaan or evil. But don't you worry we are safe as long as you believe in God.

I think 'evil' is just the absence of 'goodness', as the same concept applies to 'dark' as absence of 'light', and 'cold' as absence of 'warmth'.

What I'm trying to say is that the word evil came after the word good. Therefore, man is naturally good. Besides, being evil is influenced by the environment one lives in, so if his environment is clean (not perfect, however, for no such thing exists) then it is likely that he will remain good.

Ever since the sin of Adam and Eve, there has been innate human evil; meaning, we were born with natural evil in our ways because we inherited that sinful nature.

This is why no matter how hard we try to change on our own, there will always be a time when we'll fall back into our sin; there will always be a time when we would still lie and cheat, and even make excuses for them in our head to please our conscience.

"You are of {your} father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own {nature,} for he is a liar and the father of lies." (John 8:44)

But at the same time, the Spirit of God dwells within every person He has created. You know that voice in your head that makes you think twice whenever you're doing something wrong? And those urges you have to reach out to others and to show them some love? And that desire within you to do what is right? That is the Spirit of God.

"Do you not know that you are a temple of God and {that} the Spirit of God dwells in you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16)

This is why humans are imperfect, because they both have good and bad in them. Although, this is also the reason why we were given free will. We have the privilege of choosing whether we'd (A): let God's Spirit overcome our sinful nature, and grow in Him, or (B): choose the pleasures of this world (that won't even last) over Him, and continue indulging ourselves in temptations of the flesh and our worldly ways.

Now if you'd rather choose A, then you must know, that this choice is Jesus Christ.

"Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)

"but through me" means there's no other way to Heaven except through Him. We are sinners; God is holy. This is why God sent Jesus on earth. This is why Jesus is the Only Way.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16)

Jesus lived His life as an example for you. He suffered every persecution, every flesh-ripping torture, every bloodshed for you.  He died for you. He gave His life so that you may no longer be separated from God; so that even if you are a sinner (which you are.), you now have a Savior.

And you must also know, that with being a true follower of Jesus Christ comes great responsibility, great persecution, but also an even greater reward.

GOD BLESS you.

Ever since I was a kid, I always thought man was born evil, but I thought maybe that was just me and if I tell anyone they'd think me mad. I didn't know Hobbes thought the same! (Yay I'm not mad!)

Forgive me if this may sound shallow but I agree with,
"Every man is born in sin, every man must choose his way." --The Confrontation from Les Misérables.

It's not just because I like Les Mis that I agree with it it's just really a thing I believe in. We were born in sin therefore we are in the alignment of evil but as we go on in life that alignment somewhat changes to good. Being born as an evil being is the challenge in life we must face.

Remember that saying we Filipinos have? "Ang masamang damo, huling mamamatay." Because one that hasn't reached the alignment of good hasn't lived one's life yet.

At least that's what I think. (:

For me, man is naturally born "impure" ('evil' IS quite a stretch eh)...except for Adam and Eve to whom which we all originated from. If Adam and Eve have never committed 'the sin' that banished them from Eden, we, as their descendants will be born "good" as well.

But, because of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for us so we may be forgiven of our sins,we will be given the chance to 'come back to good' and be forgiven or purified of the original sin our ancestors have committed. Only then when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior will we be truly forgiven and be considered as "good". And to accept Him and have faith in him unconditionally.

"Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)

Mt 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Men are born naked, without sense of morality. Therefore, men are neither born good nor evil.
