I do not believe that God created the world within 6 days, nor do I believe that we came from Adam and a rib-woman, and was then doomed because the rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

I am a non-religious rationalist and I think that evolution is at the moment the most convincing model for the development and diversity of life. But if someone presents a model which is still more convincing, backed up with more convincing evidence and reasoning, I will be absolutely prepared to accept this as well.

Quotes regarding this topic from other rationalists:

"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear."
-Thomas Jefferson

"Faith is believing something you know ain't true."
- Mark Twain

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.”
- Richard Dawkins

"Unthinking faith is a curious offering to be made to the creator of the human mind."
- John A. Hutchinson

"Faith means not wanting to know what is true. "
- Friedrich Nietzsche

"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason."
- Ben Franklin

It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I also cannot imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere.... Science has been charged with undermining morality, but the charge is unjust. A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.
- Albert Einstein, "Religion and Science," New York Times Magazine, 9 November 1930
And to add, Eve was not the first wife of Adam, it was Lilith, who was later scrapped and religion labeled her as a demon. Talk about dirty little secrets.
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books
You shall not look through my eyes either nor take things from me
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself

Science all the way!

The only God I can admire is Einstein's and Spinoza's God, also known as Nature.
