CHAPTER SIX

HOMECOMING

10th Setting: Mount Groove Ville, The Gonzales Mansion, 7:00pm

Kim: Is my makeup all right?

Trixie: You look really good, Kim!

Gab: I guess you’re ready! Tara na! Hinahanap ka na nila.

Mom: *knocks on the door* Anak? Are you ready? The guests are already downstairs.

Kim: Yes, Mom! I’ll be there in a while.

Mom: Be quick, okay?

Kim: Okay!

After 10 minutes, bumaba na si Kim. She’s wearing a simple yet elegant dress. All eyes were on her as she walked slowly down the staircase.

Baron: Hoy Chris! *sabay siko kay Chris* Tulala tayo ah?

Ken: Sinong hindi matutulala? Ang ganda niya kaya!

Wala pa ring kibo si Chris, hindi maialis ang mga mata kay Kim...

Mom: You look amazing tonight, darling! *kisses Kim on the cheeks*

Kim: Thank you, Mommy!

Mom: Anyway, go on, entertain your guests.

At pumunta na nga si Kim para batiin ang kanyang mga relatives, nakipagkamustahan at nagpasalamat sa pagpunta nila sa kaarawan niya hanggang sa nakarating na siya sa table nina Chris.

Chris: *hugs Kim* ♫ Oh girl, you look wonderful tonight. ♫ Happy birthday, Kim!

Kim: Thanks, Chris! *hugs back*

Gab: Yieee! Ang sweet!

Friends: Happy birthday, Kim!

Kim: Thank you, guys! *hugs them all*

Pumunta sa isang corner ang barkada, sumunod si Kim sa kanila.

Gab: Kim, okay ka lang? You seem to be a bit sad.

Chris: Oo nga. Is everything alright?

Kim: Of course! Kasama ko kayo e!

Gab: Kim?! *nosy look*

Kim: What? *innocent look*

Dave: Kim, we know you.

Kim: Fine, fine. You win. Yeah, I’m a bit sad, but I’m happy as well. *forces a smile*

Dave: What now?

Chris: Anong problema, Kim?

Gab: You deserve to be completely happy on your day and nothing else.

Kim: I’m happy kasi nandito kayo, nandito si Chris, nandito relatives ko. Pero may kulang pa rin eh. Ilang taon na rin niyang namimiss yung birthday ko. Sabi niya nung mga nakaraan, darating siya. Lagi ako naghihintay pero eto, wala pa rin siya.

Wala na silang nasabi dahil biglang tinawag si Kim ng mommy niya.

Mom: Anak, come on here. Time to blow your candles.

Before she blew the candle, she closed her eyes and wished...

Kim: (Lord, alam Niyo po kung ano yung taon-taon kong wish. Yun po ulit ngayon. Thank You po.)

Right after blowing the candle, they all sang the birthday song until a familiar voice was heard by Kim. Hinanap niya kung san nanggagaling ‘yung boses na yun.

Kim: *palingon-lingon* (I know that voice!)

Paglingon niya sa likod, hindi na niya napigilang umiyak at tumakbo papalapit para yakapin ang taong matagal na niyang hinihintay.

Kim: KUYAAAAA!!!

Niyakap niya ng mahigpit ang kanyang kuya. Ilang taon din silang hindi nagkita dahil mula nang grumaduate ng college ang kuya niya, nanirahan na siya sa France para magtrabaho. Nagulat ang mga kaibigan ni Kim dahil ngayon lang nila nakita si Louis (pronounced as lu-wi) Antonio O. Gonzales, ang tanging kapatid ni Kim. Sina Gab at Trixie lang (sa buong barkada) ang nakakita sa kanya noong gradeschool pa sila dahil magkababata silang tatlo nina Kim.

Louis: Hey there, princess! Happy birthday!

Hindi maialis ni Kim ang pagyakap niya sa kanyang Kuya.

Gab and Trixie: Kuya LA!!

Lumapit sila para batiin ang kuya ni Kim.

Louis: Oh, kamusta na kayong dalawa?

Gab: Grabe, kuya LA! Ang tangkad mo na lalo! Tapos hindi ka na lampayatot tulad nung dati!

Louis: Naku, si Gabby talaga oh, madaldal pa rin. At ikaw Trixie, walang pinagbago. Maganda pa rin!

Trixie: Of course, kuya LA! Ako pa.

Kim: Kuya! Bakit ka nandito?! I mean, hindi ka na busy? Bakit hindi ka man lang nagsabi na pupunta ka? Alam ba ‘to nina Mommy at Daddy?

Louis: Surprise kasi ‘to little sis. At hindi ako ang may pakana nito.

Kim: Huh? Eh sino?

Louis: Sino pa ba? Edi yung Prince Charming mo! Uy, *teasing* yung princess ko may bago nang prince.

Kim: Kuya naman eh!

Matt: Eto pala yung surprise ni Chris!

Baron: Ayos ‘to Chris ah. Hey Kim! Wala man lang bang thank you kiss diyan?

Chelsea: Ang dami mong alam, Baron! *sabay batok*

Baron: Nagbibiro lang naman.

Kim: Chris, is it true? This was all your plan?

Chris: You got that right! Kaya “dedication coming soon” kasi dadalhin ko dito kuya mo

Kim: Oh my gosh, thank you Chris!!! *hugs Chris*

Lumapit si Louis kina Kim at Chris para paghiwalayin sila.

Louis: Ops, teka muna. Mamaya na yan. This girl’s mine Chris, ibalik mo muna sakin ‘tong kapatid ko ha? We need to do some catching up.

Chris: Sure, kuya Louis! You’re the boss!

Louis: Bro, just call me LA

Mom: Come here, Antonio. Give your Mama a hug!

Louis: Mom, you’re treating me like a kid again.

Mom: Oh, son. I missed you!

Dumating na rin yung dad ni Kim galing sa office so the family had their little reunion. Thanks to our Prince Charming – Chris.

After more than two months...


11th Setting: St. Miriam High School, January 20, 2009, 4:00pm

Christmas and New Year had passed and now, the girls are busy with something worth celebrating on the month of love.

Gab: Girls, are your gowns ready?

Chelsea: Mine’s not yet, ginagawa pa lang.

Anne: Same here. Ang tagal nga e. December pa nung sinimulan gawin yun.

Trix: Mine too. Kailangan kasi sunod talaga sa theme. Ikaw ba Kim?

Kim: Ipinapagawa pa lang din. Si mommy yung nag-aasikaso nung akin.

Anne: I bet your gown will be the most elegant, AGAIN.

Chelsea: Palagay ko nga. Lalo na ngayon mas sosyal ang theme – royalty.

Kim: Kayo talaga! From what I heard sa mom mo Chelsea, your gown costs a fortune! So I guess, you’ll take over this time.

Trixie: By the way, date niyo?

Anne: Obviously, boyfriends.

Trixie: What I meant is, tinanong na ba nila kayo? Kasi hindi pa ako tinatanong ni Matt.

Chelsea: Baron did. Subukan niya lang kalimutan!

Trixie: Nice. Dapat lang. Three weeks na lang kaya. Ikaw Anne?

Anne: Yep, Ken asked me already.

Chelsea: Teka, how about you Gab? Sinong date mo?

Gab: I don’t know.

Chelsea: Ayiiieee! Did Dave ask you na?

Gab: Ha? Hindi no.

Chelsea: Tsk. Ang bagal naman ni Dave! Baka maunahan pa siya ng iba. So, wala ka pang date?

Gab: Wala pa nga.

Kim: Don’t worry Gab, you’re not alone.

Trixie: Anong ibig mong sabihin Kim?

Anne: Chris hasn’t asked you yet?

Kim: Nope.

Gab: Why?!

Kim: I don’t know either.

CHAPTER SEVEN

THE DATE

The next day, habang break time nila, naiwan si Gab sa room, and Dave had his opportunity.

Dave: Hey Gab! Bakit ‘di ka bumaba?

Gab: Ire-rewrite ko pa kasi ‘tong homework ko. Ikaw, hindi ka ba kakain?

Dave: Busog pa ko, madami kasi akong kinain nung breakfast.

Gab: Ahh. *looks back to her desk*

Dave: Uhh, Gab.. may date ka na ba sa prom?

Gab: Wala pa. *answered without looking up*

Dave: So, I can still ask you to be my date?

Gab: *looks up awkwardly* Like I have a choice?

Dave: I’ll take that as a ‘yes’!

Gab: Uh-huh. *smiles*

Dave: Ayos! *secretly had the ‘yes’ gesture with palm closed*

Hours later, on their way home, Kim is with her girl friends until...

Chris: Kim!

Kim: Oh, Chris. Bakit?

Chris: Can I have a minute with you?

Kim: *looks at the girls as if asking for permission* Sure! What is it?

Chris: Here. *gives Kim a card*

Kim: Ano ‘to?

Chris: I want you to read that tonight, before you sleep.

Kim: *wondering* Okay.

When it was time to sleep, Kim opened the card and read:

I think you’re wondering why am I giving you this, it is not your birthday nor Christmas day. But
I just want to tell you tonight that even if today’s no special day, it is for me, because every single day that you’re with me, is.
I want you to know that you are my one and only. The only girl that never made me lonely.
I want you to know that you have this very special space in my heart that nobody else can take away.
I am so sorry if I had made tears fall from your eyes. Also,
I am sorry if I can’t be the perfect man for you, but yes, I am trying to.
I want you to know that I am very thankful to have you as my girl.
I will love you always and forever.

Kim’s cellphone rang..

Kim: Hey Gab!

Gab: Hi Kim! Nandito na kami ni Anne sa Manila Grand Hotel. Room 720. Ikaw?

Kim: Nandito pa kami sa Diamond Central Hotel ngayon nina mommy.

Gab: Ahh. Nakaayos ka na ba?

Kim: They’re doing my hair right now as we speak.

Gab: Oh! Sorry!

Kim: Ano ka ba, okay lang! Ikaw, nakaayos ka na ba?

Gab: Hindi pa. Sa room din ako aayusan.

Kim: Right. Sina Trixie at Chelsea, nandyan na rin ba sila?

Gab: Si Trixie raw susunduin ni Matt sa bahay nila. Si Chelsea diba diyan din naka-checkin? Palagay ko busy na rin yung mga yun sa pag-aayos nila. O sige na. See you later! Bye.

And they hang up. Busy na ang lahat sa pag-aayos dahil ilang oras na lang, maguumpisa na ang kanilang prom. After an hour, everybody seems to be ready.

Samantala, sa room nina Kim, biglang may nag-doorbell.

Mom: I’ll get it.

As she opens the door...
 
Louis: Are you ready? Naisip kong dumaan pa– Wow! Ang ganda naman ng prinsesa sa harapan ko!

Kim: Kuya naman!

Louis: Why? Did I say something bad? Haha! I’m not kidding Kim, you’re stunning.

Mom: Siyempre! Kanino pa ba yan magmamana?

Louis: I know! *puts his arms around her mom’s shoulder*

Kim: Si Mommy talaga.

Kim’s cellphone suddenly rings..

Kim: Hi!

Chris: Are you ready?

Kim: I think so.

Chris: All right! I’ll be there in about 20 minutes.

Kim: Okay, I’ll wait.

Meanwhile, in Trixie’s house...

Mom: Darling, Matt’s here!

Trixie: Okay, Mom. I’ll be down in a minute!

Pagkababa ni Trixie, nagulat si Matt sa kanyang nakita. Nakasuot ng violet gown si Trixie with a red hair accessory. Lalo pa siyang pinaganda ng kanyang diamond studded necklace.

Matt: WOW.

Trixie: Let’s go!

Matt: You’re beautiful. *whispers* I love you.

Trixie: Thank you. *Puts her hands in Matt’s arms*

Sa Diamond Hotel naman, pinuntahan na ni Baron ang room kung saan naka-checkin ang family ni Chelsea. Pagka-doorbell niya, binuksan ng bunsong kapatid ni Chelsea ang pinto.

Mateo: Hi kuya Baron!

Baron: Hello Mateo! Nasan na ang ate Chelsea mo?

Mateo: Nandun! Pasok ka.

Pagpasok ni Baron, nakita niyang nakatayo si Chelsea sa may salamin in her fabublous gold gown. Pagkaharap niya..

Baron: Sino ka at anong ginawa mo kay Chelsea?!

Chelsea: Loko-loko! Haha. Tara na nga!

Baron: Ang ganda mo, Chels!

Chelsea: I know right

Samantala, sa room naman nina Anne at Gab sa Manila Grand Hotel..

Anne: Gab, hindi pa rin tapos yung hair mo?

Gab: Hindi pa eh. Okay lang na mauna ka na.

Anne: Talaga?

Gab: Yup!

*doorbell*

Anne: Baka si Ken na yun. I’ll get it.

Pagkabukas ni Anne ng pinto..

Ken: Hey! Woooow.

Talagang mapapa-wow ka dahil sa red gown ni Anne with black accents like her long gloves, hair accessory, and choker necklace.

Anne: Sakto lang yung dating mo.

Ken: Are you ready, Anne?

Anne: I am.

Ken: *offers his arms to Anne* Let’s go, beautiful!

After a few minutes, tinawagan na ni Dave si Gab.

Dave: Hi Gab! Ready ka na ba?

Gab: Yup. Sorry medyo natagalan. I was about to text you na sana to go here.

Dave: It’s okay. I’m on my way. Same floor lang naman yung room niyo tsaka room naming mga lalaki eh. See you!

Gab: Okay, bye.

Nag-doorbell na si Dave sa room nina Gab. For some reason, hindi siya mapakali. Hanggang sa binuksan na nung makeup artist yung room at umalis na rin agad. Pumasok si Dave at nakita niya si Gab sa may bintana with her stunning brown gown. Pagkaharap sa kanya ni Gab..

Dave: Wow, Gabby. You look wonderful!

Gab: Why thank you, David.

Dave: So, let’s go?

Gab: Right behind you.

This night will be unforgettable for Dave because tonight, he will confess his feelings for Gab. It’s about time he does that. But what about Kim and Chris? Will they have another happy ending just like last year’s prom?
