47 Year old Susan Boyle wows the judges with her performance in the auditions for Britains Got Talent, singing I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables.


She's really good!  Sabi nga nila, "don't judge a book by its cover".

Ay grabe, first time I heard her I was like, "Dang!". LOL. Mas magaling pa siya kay Charlotte Church eh! Haha. Kaya lang sayang ngayon lang siya nadiscover noh. Kung kelan matanda na siya. :]

I'm probably the only one here with a verdict which is not influenced by simon and his media machinery. 

When I heard about this old lady gaining millions of youtube views for just 2 days with people saying she's got the most beautiful voice, blah, blah blah, I resisted the urge to check her out coz I don't want to disappoint myself in the end. You see when people say that compliment MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE, I really take it seriously coz I have a very high standard being a musician myself.
Only a few minutes ago my curiosity got the best of me so I watch her video... Guess what? For an old lady she can definitely sing BUT NOT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICE OR ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS IN THE WORLD! Give me a break Simon Cowell!    Britain has got to be the easiest audience to please especially if they are out to prove something. Their I-can't-believe-this expression look soooo scripted to make Susan Boyle's perf standout. Anybody who's praising her to death must have never heard of Lea Salonga's version of the song I Dreamed  Dream. THis old lady's voice don't give me chills yet people compliment her like she's at par with Maestro Bocelli and Groban! I'm really pissed right now!   

I just proved a fact today; THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FEMALE VOICE HAS NOT BEEN BORN YET.

All the people who give her that compliment has never had the luxury of researching and listening to the best singers in the world, then and now, and only have Simon's overrated talent shows to base what the art of singing is!  

I don't hate the old lady, It's the exagerrated praises that's getting on my nerves! Gosh, I think I'm gonna have a heart attack here....    PEACE.

oh cmon man!  give the lady a break, she can definitely sing maybe not as AMAZING! and MINDBLOWING! as broadway stars blah blah blah but she CAN definitely sing, we all know that this hype would wear off after about a few months so please just bear with it

Simon is brainwashing the world. 

One things for sure, she's gonna end up as the female Paul Potts. If you know what I mean.    Maybe it's bcoz she doesn't possess visual beauty that in the end her talent ( which I'm not denying she has, I just don't think she's that great )  is magnified to the nth level. 

I'm so sick of Simon and his talent shows brainwashing the world!

I was just amazed when I saw her video to think that she received a lot of bad comments from the audience even before she performed.

And yes I agree, she's the female version of Pol Potts.

I am amazed with her kasi di niya pinakawalan yung dream niya. She may not be the most amazing singer in the whole entire world. But for me, she served as an inspiration. It doesn't matter what your age is; if you have a dream, then you should pursue it.

IMO, she can sing.

I think I know why. We all know she isnt the prettiest or the sexiest of the bunch. And quite frankly, she looks a bit...aesthetically challenged (lol). She looks like someone who'll sing like William Hung. So when she did sing, and shes quite good everyone thought she was AWESOME and AMAZING to the extent that they think shes the best singer in the world.

But, then, think about it. Give her voice to someone whos a bit prettier, sexier, and charming. I bet it wouldnt create such a big hype. Cause before she entered the audition hall, you already have this feeling that shell do well.

Finally! Someone who agrees with me!  I thought I'm gonna be alone here...

I guess this time her lack of beauty is an advantage. LOL! It used to be the other way around. IF IT WERE UP TO ME, I WOULD MAKE ALL SINGERS IN THE WORLD INVISIBLE JUST TO MAKE PEOPLE JUDGE THE SINGING AS IT IS AND NOT MEASURE IT ACCORDING TO THEIR LOOKS,  WHETHER THEY ARE UGLY OR NOT!   

I heard her sing My heart Will Go On on LArry King and I must say she's really not that great but that judge praised her like crazy!  Celine Dion sang it better and that's saying a lot coz I'm not even loving Dion's voice.  Heck, even Charice got a lovelier voice than her when she sang the same song on Oprah! 

A lot of people have the same vocal ability like Boyle. I really hope the listening public will realize that as soon as possible coz she's just everywhere... LIke we all forgot all the greatest singers in the world and she's the queen. Wake up people!

I have to agree on this one.. but let's not forget, BGT is a show, they need something so they'll get the viewers attention. It's part of the show's publicity. That's the way media projects a show or talent, be as exaggerating as you could be. It works all the time.

She may not be really the best, but people has different opinions. We didn't forgot the best singers that we have. It's like Connie Talbot and Charlie Green era, aren't they also tagged as "one of the world's best?" Same goes with Susan Boyle, it just became sensational coz people judged her with they way she looks before even hearing what she got.

Try listening to Haley Westenra singing I Dreamed a Dream on youtube. She's 15 at that time and her voice is quite similar to that of Boyle's. My unbiased judgement is that Haley sang the song better at the first half coz her voice is slightly sweeter but Boyle delivered the latter part with more emotions which the song required. 

The sad part is Haley's video has been posted on youtube for a few years now but did she get the same global attention that Susan Boyle is getting right now considering they pretty much have the same tone in their voices? NO.   

That's bcoz she's a pretty girl and she doesn't have the she-must-be-bad-in-singing-coz-she's-ugly factor in her. 
LIKE I SAID, LISTEN TO SUSAN BOYLE AND HALEY WESTENRA ON YOUTUBE SINGING I DREAMED A DREAM AND I GUARANTEE YOU THEY ARE ON THE SAME LEAGUE AS FAR AS TALENT GOES. BUT PLEASE DO SO BY JUST LISTENING AND NOT WATCHING THE VIDEO SO AS NOT TO MAKE INAPPROPRIATE EQUATIONS ABOUT TALENT COUPLED WITH LOOKS. ONE BEING UGLY AND ONE BEING PRETTY.

Why is this becoming a battle of the looks now?

NO. What I'm trying to say is Susan Boyle's instant fame is a result of the fact that people judged her bcoz of her looks and her being a 47 yr old virgin before she opened her mouth. If she happened to be okay looking Simon would've tagged her as too OLD-FASHIONED, BROADWAY, BORING, etc.

That's the mistake of those people who are too preoccupied with physical beauty anyways and in the end they are the same people who are now insisting that she is the best singer in the world. IMO, ANOTHER BAD JUDGEMENT ON THEIR PART.
