I have a question, anong tama dito: My First Day in College or My First Day of College? Kasi nalilito talaga ako everytime naririnig or nababasa ko 'to sa mga blogs ng classmates ko.

Tingin ko, pareho namang tama. Pero kung ako ang gagamit ng sentence na yan, I'll probably use "in". Feeling ko kasi it will sound more right.
I'm a silly little girl. ü

I also think that both are correct but they're somewhat different in what the speaker/writer is trying to pertain.

IN is a preposition of time and place
OF is a preposition that pertains to belongingness.

Pero for me din, I'll use IN. But let me get back to that. I will try to research on it.

there are two common words i see around that i guess are incorrect

feedbacks and softwares

it should just be feedback and software even if pertaining to numerous feedback and software

Definition from Wikipedia

Software is a general term used to describe a collection of computer programs, procedures and documentation that perform some tasks on a computer system.

Feedback is information and information is already a collection of facts.

anyways, nalaman ko lang din naman sya from our english trainer

LESSON 3 (from: http://esl.about.com/library/grammar/blgr_prep3.htm)

Preposition Use - in / at / on - prepositions of time and date

IN

Use 'in' months and years and periods of time:

    * in January
    * in 1978
    * in the twenties

Use 'in' a period of time in the future:

    * in a few weeks
    * in a couple of days

AT

Use 'at' with precise time:

    * at six o'clock
    * at 10.30
    * at two p.m.

ON

Use 'on' with days of the week:

    * on Monday
    * on Fridays

Use 'on' with specific calendar days:

    * on Christmas day
    * on October 22nd
Oooh. Sobrang tulong to. :D Minsan I get confused kung alin ang dapat gamitin. Nakakaloko. XD

Question: In or with? --- I'm not really good in/with (subject)?

May post sa similar na thread about dun sa question ko, di ko lang maalala kung alin ang sinabing tama. :D

I can relate with the one who said that after entering college e medyo nag-sabog na ang grammar niya. Ganun din ako. I'm not saying that I was super good noon, pero kaya kong mag-construct ng sentences na hindi ako na-a-awkwardan bitawan, tipong super isip na umaabot na sa point na di ko na lang sinasabi. :-\

Feeling ko rin kasi "in" yung mas correct pakinggan. I'm planning to blog kasi about my first day eh. Eh hindi ko sure kung anong mas tamang title ipopost ko. Anyway, thanks for the reply! I'll give you a YAY!

Oh ganun pala. Thanks for the infos ate xy! Buti na lang may thread na ganito sa Teentalk. I'll give you a YAY for that. :)

I was fairly good at grammar and language before... but i noticed that since i started my college, I also started to lose my grammatical skills. My course is all about numbers and analysis (believe me, I DID NOT WANT THAT!!!) and constantly staring at numbers makes me lose some of my grammatical "skills" (if skill is the right term anyways).

so do you think it's true? that those who are good in math are bad in english and vice versa?

no not really.. although they say people good in math are good in english..  (my math teacher is good in both math and english.. he also keeps a diary) but i don't think it is true.. meron kasi akong kaibigan na magaling sa math pero di masyado sa english..

about losing skills.. i think you just forgot some.. dahil na din siguro hindi napa-practice..

*QUESTION:
Alin ba ang mas tama gamitin pag place? In or At? kunwari..
I work at/in mcdo
Nakakalito kasi.. :-\

^ Use AT for a specific place. IN for a place that is enclosed or within boundaries.

Example:

I am taking my master's degree at FEU.

I live in a subdivision.

Good judgement comes from experience , and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.
