Yan ang dalwang taong susubukan ng tadhana.
Sila ay magkasintahan. Mahal na mahal nila ang isa't isa at masayang masaya sila. Akala nila wala ng katapusan ang kasayahan nila. Pero hindi papayag ang tadhana na mawala ang balance.
Anong balance yun?

hindi umimik si Alexis ng tawagin sya ng boyfriend nyang si Nathaniel. Nasa may tambayan nila silang dalwa, naglalakad-lakad. Ang tambayan na yun ay ang lugar kung saan punong-puno ng magaganda't masasakit na memorya nilang dalwa. Iyon ay sa tabing-dagat. Magkahawak-kamay sila.
"alexis..." makalwang tawag ni Nathaniel ng hindi sya imikan ni Alexis. Kanina nya pa napapansin ang pagiging tahimik ni Alexis at katamlayan nito. He's not used to this Alexis he's with now. The Alexis he knew is the cheerful, hyper-active and a happy-go-lucky one. Nagaalala tuloy sya sa girlfriend nya lalo na't hindi man lang siya nito kinakausap.
Hindi na nakatiis si Nathaniel sa ginagawa ni Alexis. Tumigil sya sa paglalakad dahilan upang mapatigil din si Alexis pero hindi pa din to tumitingin kay Nathaniel. Her eyes just staring at the sand.
Nathaniel removed their intertwined hands. And placed his hands in both of her shoulders and positioned her to face him. She was still looking down. Nathaniel held her chin and make her face into him. He was taller than Alexis.
"Alexis, why won't you look directly in my eyes? Why won't you speak up? It makes me worry. Is something wrong? Please tell me. I want to know. I want to ease up your pain."
Alas! Alexis' eyes faced his.
Pero... may mga luhang pumatak sa mga mata ni Alexis...
