I am also a comsci student. I also won't deny it is a tough course. And the problems for programming are hard. But once you get it, its a nice feeling. This is a good course if you would rather spend time on the computer (which is why I chose the course when I transferred schools). And there's a lot of math involved. Especially a series of calculus.

^ I think calculus is ok, discrete maths is.. Ugh, the series & sequence part is total confusion. Haha

^Goodluck  ;) I have 2 maths at the moment. Tapos 2 engineering subjects.

Sino ang magaling sa java programming?  :(
Kinopya ko na yung code na nasa libro, di pa rin gumagana. Ugh  :-\

Onga pala, galing ko na sa Boolean Algebra ;D

^I took Math 14 and Math 100 this sem. Guh, my grades are low. Bad choice to take 2 maths at the same time. :(

I'm taking up comsci too, and I'm not gonna lie, it's a real kicker. Be prepared to spend hours in front of your pc just coding, and don't even get me started on debugging, it's an even bigger pain in the butt sometimes. It's not all programming though. Like what gummY_anGeL mentioned, there's also math involved. I mean you won't just be taking calc, but subjects like discrete math din which is super different from what I think of as 'normal' math 'cause it deals with logic more than calculations. There's going to be a little bit of the hardware side in comsci din, at one point or another you're probably going to deal with something like computer architecture.

It's gonna be hard, but don't let that discourage you from taking up what you really want. Just prepare yourself mentally and know how to balance your time and you'll be good to go. :)

What school are you going to? :)

not sure pa.
its either la salle or up.  :)

what school ka sis?

I used to go to Taft but I moved out of the country. Go to Taft! Haha biased. Just kidding. They have a good comsci program kasi which is why I chose it over the two other schools when I was deciding like you. :)

On your third term you get to choose one out of four specializations depende sa hilig mo(ST/IST/CSE/NE, I'm sure you know about these). They also have a program that allows you to get a master's degree in less than a year. So let's say you're in ST. Normally you'd spend 3 years and 1 term in school to get your bachelor's, but if you get accepted sa ladderized program and if you choose to stay for a couple more terms, you graduate with a bachelor's degree + master's in just around 4 years.

i'm a CS student and I'm regretting taking it. Yung operating systems etc I doubt magagamit mo rin

baka makatulong rin ito, gusto ko lang iclarify ang difference ng CS at ng IT. Nung High school pa kasi ako akala ko same lang sila pero pagenroll ko sa CS ibang iba pala. Baka makatulong ito for those who are planning to enroll in either courses this may.

Ang CS focuses more on heavy programming and theoretical concepts. Dito asides from programming subjects kukuha pa kayo ng networks architecture, machine language, computer architecture etc. Usually and end thesis niyo ay digital image or signal processors etc.

Ang IT naman ang focus ay dalawa. Half programming with some basic computer concepts and business processes. Ang usual end thesis niyo dito ay business software for a company.

So nasa sa inyo din yan kung ano gusto niyo  :) Eto based from experience na din, wala masyadong kinalaman ang school sa outcome ng career mo.

Uhm, well maganda ang job opportunities dito :) *kaya masaklap ang dadaaanan hahaha ;D*

Alam mo yung mga phones or gadgets such as iPod, iPhone, laptops.. whatevers..? Computer Science graduates ang nagdedesign and nagdedevelop nito. Kung magaling ka dumiskarte, you might end up working in big-shot companies like IBM, Sony, Nokia  -- well you get the point.

Sakin Sony eh. Haha

woah. galing nung ladderized program pero hindi ba mas mahirap un??  :)

You have to meet a certain GPA on your sophomore year to qualify. I'm not sure on the other requirements (like if may exam or something), hindi ko kasi naabutan yun 'cause I left before my batch's screening, pero yung GPA requirement, for sure meron.

seriously? its so hard; well i dont know if its because most of my classmates are such nerds and are older than me or its just plain hard. i must admit na ilang beses din akong nangarap ng ibang course but seriously sis, FATE LEADS ME BACK to ComSci. hahaha
na-discourage ka? naman. well its really up to you if you have discipline and you're willing to sacrifice time and hard work. it will pay off in the future though. :)

yup, kelangan mag-qualify ung grade ko.
I attended the pre-confirmation orientation sa la salle yesterday.
what is the hardest major?
