Movie: Watchmen
« on: March 14, 2009, 07:56:54 pm »
I just watched this!
Quote
"Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen?"

The fight scenes were GOOD.
I love the slow-mo effects and the almost-real gushing of the blood out of someones leg, head, whatever. There were gory parts! Sure! But the fact that they portrayed it almost so real was very nice.

[SPOILER ALERT!!! -- some spoilers ahead]

I always laugh when I see Dr. Manhattan. They really didn't censor the 'thingy' he has. LOLOLOL.
And there were a lot of sex scenes too... well not a lot.

Overall, it was a nice watch. There's a hidden meaning behind it, and a nice twist but nothing too extraordinary. Nice effects!

Have you watched it? :)

In the graphic novel, they killed ARRRRROOOOOOOOORRRR.  ;)

Pero in all honesty the movie didn't really convey what Alan Moore conveyed in the story. Nice scenes pero the director just didn't capture the story and what it was supposed to convey. Mahirap paliwanag eh. Read the graphic novel, and read it several times. Then you'll get it.

i haven't read the GN but i've seen the movie, a friend who has read it said it was pretty loyal to the material but some things were changed to make it work for the movie.

i,personally, loved it,except laurie, the actress was hoooorrible. rorschach, was my favorite part of the movie,i thought he was the one whose story i felt for the most and the actor was just phenomenal, just applaudingly amazing! the comedian was vile and repulsive but in a way i admired him because he was the most true to himself,he didn't care,he is the exact opposite of any cliche'd superhero. i think trademark na ni snyder ang long slo-mo sex scenes,sa SM ako nanuod kaya may cuts pero ironic lang na di nila binlur ang BLUE "package",lol. the gore was surprisingly present, like more than i thought,i loved the midget killing sequence with the door swinging and we see rorschach leaning closer to his victim, beautiful.

i almost cried during one scene,i think anyone who's seen the movie will know which one. the moral questions brought up by the movie were interesting and was a great topic for debate between me and my friends.

This was actually one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. They didn't make it toy-ish and I love the cinematography. The story was great because it seemed like they didn't change anything from the book. Oh and I love the fact that the movie had a lot of freedom because they did not censor any of the violent action scenes from the book. It's not really cool when people change stuff in movies so that a lot of people will watch it.
