Wow. so if we can save ourselves, we no longer need Jesus Christ then?

This is heresy.

And one more thing....Jesus Christ was the one who quoted that verse...it doesnt literally mean that WE MAY BE ABLE TO SAVE OURSELVES ALONE but of course we NEED JESUS CHRIST because he is our SAVIOUR...take note IT WAS JESUS who said that and not just somebody... :) it means we need to stand firm until the end..together with our FAITH in Him...Godbless..
Im Not ashamed of what I am now..a SERVANT OF GOD

We absolutely need Jesus Christ. Without him, salvation would not even be possible. We are sinners, and God had to sacrifice His only begotten son in order to give us the gift of eternal life with him. He loved so much that He did that when we don't even deserve any of it. It's His grace that allows us to be saved.

I wanna share a couple of verses...

If you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- not by works, so no one should boast - Ephesians 2:8

As for the question, "Are you saved?", I truly believe I am. : )

Ephesians 5:1-2
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself up forus as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God

How does this square with Philippians 2:12 "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling"?
I wish love was like volleyball, all you do is shout "Mine!!!" and everyone else backs off :)

Oh I am sorry, so you claim that you have read scripture very well and have rightly understood its innermost secrets?

i'm not quite understanding your question...pardon me if this isn't the answer you were looking for. lol.

okay so Philippians 2:12-13 says..
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

working out your salvation and working for it are two different things. "working out" your salvation is practicing your beliefs and faith. "working for" your salvation is trying to earn it. like Ephesians 2:8 says, we can't earn salvation. we have to accept the gift that God has given to us. however, that doesn't mean we have to have to disregard good deeds.

Romans 1:5-6: Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

1 John 3:6: No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him

2 Cor. 5:14: For Christ's love compels us because we are convinced that one died for all, and there fore all died.

the acceptance of the gift of eternal salvation should change us. once we know Christ, we need to let him have complete control over us and it will change our perspectives. that's where "obedience from faith" comes into perspective. doing good deeds alone without faith doesn't save us.

Yes, yes. Thank you for that.

However, we can never be sure we're saved until we have it. Or put in another way, we can never be sure to possess salvation till the end unless we fall off.

you said that if we can save ourselves we no longer need Jesus then?? that was your question..

as i have explained above..the scripture says that we may be able to SAVE OURSELVES AS LONG AS JESUS IS IN OUR LIVES...besides the bible talks about JESUS so as the scriptures written..why do you need to ask this question if the man who said it is still JESUS,,?? that is why i told you to read the scripture very well.. :)

if you do believe that we can never be sure we're saved..then..thats up to you..we have our own different opinions all we need to do is to respect each other's beliefs.. :) Godbless

A rather interesting question, how can anyone really be saved if there are still so many divisions amongst the religions in existence? There's Jesus of Christians, Catholics and amonst the numerous other institutions

There's Allah & Mohammed (pbwh) of the Muslims

There's Gautama Buddha of the Buddhists.

There's Hinduism, Shintoism, and Im not even counting the "phased out" religions such as the Greek and Roman polytheistic gods, and the Norse gods Thor & Odin?

How can you really be saved if there are still religious labels and people cannot even unify what they really want to believe in? rather pathetic isnt it?

To me, is the belief that when the believers of a specific religion goes extinct, so does the belief of whoever god is presiding it.

Believe in whatever you want, you are free to do so, but in the end, only you can save yourself from whatever others is trying to inflict on you.
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books
You shall not look through my eyes either nor take things from me
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from yourself

Interesting.

If affiliation does not matter, then would you go to a Catholic Mass with me and receive the Holy Eucharist which is the real flesh and blood of Christ, afterwards, let's pray the rosary in honour of Jesus Christ?

or is it, "bawal"?  :)

yes affiliation does NOT matter. 'cause I RESPECT what you believe in and what others believe in. I am a Born-Again Christian,I'm currently studying at UST, which for all we know is a Catholic School, I attend the school's mass. and yes, kung yayayain mo ko sasama ko,why not?  ::) We have 'breaking of the bread', would you do it with us in remembrance of God's sacrifice for all of us? :)) We do believe that prayer that comes from the heart is the best way to honor and talk to God.We don't need memorized prayers. :D though it is not "BAWAL".

oh, but i beg you to answer this for me please:

if a person is praying a 'memorized' prayer, does that mean na automatically hindi na from the heart yung pagadarasal nya?

it does NOT,cause what matters is GOD.and I never said that affiliations matter.   :P:P

"if a person is praying a 'memorized' prayer, does that mean na automatically hindi na from the heart yung pagadarasal nya? "

^answer it for yourself.nakikita ko ba puso niya/mo? You have a brain and a heart, why don't tell God what you really want to say?

I really want to say to God:  Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed by thine name, thine kingdom come thine will be done on earth as it is in heaven. give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

now that i really wanted to say that, eh, but based on your belief, all memorized prayers are not personal prayers.

ibig sabihin hindi na personal prayer yun?  :(
